Many fake versions of these around..and the fakes don't charge at 1A .

Hopefully the MyMemory ones are legit.

Im very cautious about fake items too. But I have bought a lot of items from my memory and have found them all to be genuine items - fully legit. Recommend seller and heat added for deal.

I got one of these (not from this seller) and it works with my iPhone 4.

Perfect timing, exactly what I was about to start shopping for

If your not bothered about Belkin, these can be got a lot cheaper on Fleebay

Belkin aren't a quality brand. Everything I buy from them screws up.

i've got one of these and its pretty much useless.

whenever theres a usb cable plugged into it, the weight of the cable shifts the charger and it looses its power. it takes a LOT of fiddling to get it to start charging again, and the moment you go round a corner too fast it looses it again.

not voting either way, but i'd say be cautious.

Deal Extreme have better ones for about £1.50 delivered.

Maybe you just had a bit of bad luck bud?

I've experienced similar to 'reelist', I suspect it is the socket rather than the USB adapter as it works fine in another car.

Just what im after cheers. But which would be better this one or the one snapdragon mentioned hmmmm dnt know which one help would be welcomed

i have one, does the job, sits flush and looks good. I think it may not work in all cars though. vw polos are fine.

Why not just buy a cheap charger from ebay?

Of course itll work in all cars then ... same size fitting an voltage in all cars

The only decent things I've had from Belkin are the surge protectors, and one of those went faulty on me. Their routers are quite bad on the reliability front. The rest is rebranded chinese stuff. This is probably exactly the same product as the Deal Extreme model. I'm not saying that's a bad thing - it's just how they work.

For anyone wanting one that will actually charge at 1 amp for, say, a San Francisco, this might be a better bet (£2.35 now):

hotukdeals.com/dea…992

Checking out the Belkin, it seems that it will only produce more than 0.5 A if you modify it - and that doesn't seem such a good idea!

This is exactly what happened in my Vauxhall. The accessory socket in the car is too wide, so the fit is very loose. Now that I'm in a BMW, the fit is very snug indeed with no connection problems and best of all it's almost flush. In fact, it's genius to have such small charger hidden away with the flip out ashtray.

So the fit of these depends entirely on the car you have.

Great deal (if it fits in your car).

The ones i linked to above on fleebay are the same as the Belkin ones just without the belkin badge and are cheaper (A lot cheaper if you are after more than 1 (£2.99 for the first charger including delivery, then £1.99 for each extra charger after that) I bought 3 of these exact ones from the same seller just before xmas and they are all still going strong..

The one I got a while ago from poundland charges two usb devices at once and works absolutely fine.
Who cares about the brand if it works; its only a charger! Cold.

Just got a micro charger from Deal Extreme for ~£1.20

Bought for wifes car - i've had one in my car for the past 12 months charging my HTC without any problms.

Wow, what an odd comment to make to decide that a deal is cold.

perhaps, which is why I didn't slam the product or vote cold. just wanted to share my experience.

I've got a Honda Civic, however my TomTom charger doesnt have any issues so i'm more inclined to point the finger at the charger than the socket itself. but, as others have said, its been ok for them so maybe my one was a bit dodgy.

Would this work with a TomTom?

Some bad reviews on Amazon - doesnt work in all sockets. Example:

The end does not reach the bottom of the socket. Total waste of money. Seems avoid if you have a BMW and other reviews suggest other German and French cars have same issue. Very poor product design and totally lacking any information on compatibility.

Majority of the reviews are 5/5 though...

I bought one off the auction site and it would not charge my iPad, so I tried again and bought this one just before xmas and it works well, charges the iPad nicely and keeps the iPhone fully charged while running the sat nav. Good buy.

You may have a point reelist. Just tried it in our Honda Jazz, and although not as much play as the Vauxhall had, it does still wobble a little bit. The connection is not reliable at all. On the BMW, once in it doesn't move at all and connection is solid.

It may be that the positive terminal on it (the centre pin) is not as long as other chargers? But generally speaking, if it wobbles any at all you are unlikely to get a good connection. Very odd that there isn't a standard diameter for an accessory socket between car manufacturers. How hard can it be given our heavy reliance on these things nowadays.

I have a 5 series BMW and it fits very well. It is that snug a fit, that when you think it's plugged in, it actually is not! You need to push it even harder all the way home and then it works fine. In fact, it's the best fitting out of all the cars I've had.

Mine doesn't even power on when plugged into the ciggie charger. I have to use an extension and it then works.. real pain in the butt and I've tried everything to get it to work by itself with no luck.

having said that, it's a nice bit of kit that works well to charge my desire.

These work well but may not work in cars with a longer, deeper cog socket.
You'd think in this day and age cars would be fitted with something a bit better than the standard socket. Have you ever known a less reliable connection than the springs and pins in them. Serial became USB, isn't it about time....

I just got one of these last week from the 7dayshop , but i still get interferance when using it to charge my iphone4 and playing music off it at the same time...think I paid about £4.50 so its still a hot price.

It appears that cigarrette lighter sockets differ, I got a cheapo charger and it will not work in my astra as the sockets too loose. Car manufacturers fault, not the chargers. But in saying that, the charger is a piece of light flimsy crap, think I might just get this as I have reasonable expectations of Belkin!

I guess we were double unlucky as this charger wouldn't work in either of our cars, a 22 year old Merc and a 7 year old Nissan. The chrome pin didn't have enough movement to make a consistent contact. Shame as it's a great design, just didn't work.

I love the fact that your comment and avatar go so well together :P

Worth a punt for £3.60... Thanks OP

I bought this when it was £4 ish for my 2010 Ford Fiesta. It's a bad fit and doesn't always charge when you have it the right way up (ie the writing the right way up) but turn it 90 degrees and its a nice tight fit. Doesn't sit quite flush though.

I tend to find the unbranded chargers cause interference to AM radio listening (some of us still do ). Was looking at these but then saw the Griffin MicroJolt Dual charger (2 ports, similar size) but £12-ish. Good price for these though.
