This monitor is one of the first VA panels to feature LED backlighting. It is also very cheap for a VA panel. VA panels are better than TN panels for picture quality and viewing angles, but TN panels beat them on price and response times, although as this deal shows, VA panels are gaining on them.

There's a good discussion on these BenQ VA monitors here:
forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho…742
They also discuss the difference between this panel and the Dell U2311H (IPS).

Personally I've gone for the BenQ EW2420 as it has a semi glossy screen as opposed to the matte screen of the BL2400PT

The BL2400PT has a "more aggressive anti-glare coating", but is still a semi-glossy screen nevertheless. Pick the EW2420 if you want HDMI, pick the BL2400PT if you want a better, fully ergonomic stand.

Just a warning, the audio over HDMI on the EW2420 is apparently very bad, there's no bass or something. Read that thread for more details.
