Official Stuff:

Sports or movie fan? Then why not follow your passion on the big screen, with the BenQ W1050.

See the bigger picture
Sports events and movies are always better on the big screen and, with the possibility of an image up to 300 inches, the BenQ W1050 offers at least five times the screen size of similarly priced TVs. If you’ve a smaller room, the W1050 can still project a mighty 100” screen from just 2.8m away. Generating a contrast ratio of 15,000:1, you’ll also find the W1050 far more detailed and vibrant than previous budget projectors.

1080p for Full HD resolution
The perfect resolution for Blu-ray and gaming, 1080p Full HD gives noticeably more detail than 720p HD resolution. Suddenly, you'll see texture in the grass on the pitch, subtle detail in wildlife documentaries and a whole new depth of image. The larger the screen and the closer you sit the greater the benefit, making 1080p more impressive on a projector at home compared to a TV set.

Blackout blinds not required
With a brightness of 2200 ANSI, the BenQ W1050 doesn't require a pitch black room to impress. Even during daylight conditions, the W1050 is bright enough to provide a decent picture quality.

Three-mode picture setting
With dedicated picture modes, the projector adjusts it settings to match the content. Sport Mode, Cinema Mode and Vivid TV mode are carefully calibrated to show each genre at its best.

Connect it all
Twin HDMI sockets allows two HD sources, such as a Blu-ray player and games console. There's also a range of analogue connections, including composite and a VGA PC. Add in an audio output, mini-USB plus RS232 control interface and you've got a comprehensive set of sockets that rivals many more expensive projectors.

Make evenings in a true occasion, with the BenQ W1050.

£500 for 1080p Projector? Is that suppose to be a good price? (I have no idea but that sounds like alot)
Also have the older version (w1070). Using only the power of written word, I cannot stress how much of a game-changer, entry-level PJ that it is. It is the greatest AV purchase I have ever made and that will be all

I've had a BenQ and I can vouch for their quality ! £500 may seem like a lot for 1080p Projector but it all depends on the individual case basis. How many people actually use 4k or in fact we often want features that we never end up using or fully understand. Each to their own I'm sure many will want a 4k projector and I believe BenQ and Acer recently had the cheapest if I'm not mistaken. I shall try and provide a link..
bought 2 x Benq tw526e 720p for £120 each from Amazon Warehouse.

Both were brand new with damaged box. Batterries were still cellophane wrapped and lamp hrs zero.

It's an ok price but not great , the thinv is if you buy a t.v. just power it up and off you go, with a pj there's a lot more to consider, like let's start with a screen or wall to use, and then a dark room and so on.
You can't beat a projector for films or gaming on massive screens. Yes you need the room but they are fantastic.
I got my Acer projector 1080p 3D too for 580 but that was 4 years ago so I don't see this being a fantastic price.
How does this compare to the Optoma HD142X for £449?

When i shopped for a projector, i considered technical things like throw ratio, and then other things like warranty and how easy it is to access help when things go wrong. It was important to me that i could just walk in and hand the thing over if there were problems (and i did have a problem). Returning electricals to places like Amazon can be expensive. As for comparing the two models, it depends what you want, ie screen size etc. I have the BenQ 1070 and have found this to be excellent. I'm sure this version is even better. I paid £499 for mine 18 months ago. Best thing i ever bought. Playstation on HD 120" doesn't get any better!

I wasn't saying the link I shared was better.

I genuinely don't know the answer or know enough about projectors to decide, so was hoping someone could reply.

My budget is around £500, so I'm just saving items so that I can compare them.

Just don't know what I should be comparing, if that makes sense....

I have a Mitsubishi Fd630u 1080p projector and it's done me for a good few years, colours suck because an oem lamp is over 200 notes, something many don't take into consideration, this deal is hot, a trucking bargain ;-)

The 1070 is brilliant. The 2000 is incredible!

i doubt it will cover the cost of a new lamp
Heres the rainbow effect of the w1050 caught on camera, goto 7:37, i known its just the camera picking it up, but i think this shows how the colours are produced by the colour wheel , one after the other
