As I type this, Richer Sounds prices are £469.95 for the older W1070 model and £649 for the W1070+ (however "unavailable online but stock may still be available in-store" for the latter)

Their final verdict was that "The BenQ W1070+ is a big improvement upon its predecessor the W1070. Its subtle and punchy picture quality - complete with satisfyingly deep black levels and smooth motion - is utterly engrossing."Read more at http://www.whathifi.com/benq/w1070%2B/review

can we trust anything that website says anymore given their hdmi cable reviews etc?

Ordered thanks, hot hot.

they say its a big improvement on the w1070 but I've had this model for a couple of years and had no problems at all,,it is excellent for movies or watching tv when wired up to the sky box,,seems the wireless option is the difference,

Really annoying, great price but a short throw won't work in my room. Dam!

Great projector, but the 1070+ is not really the short throw projector in benqs range, the 1080 is

Very tempting offer at this price though

Are they not both short-throw, with the 1080 being the shorter of the two? From the review you linked to: "Other key features in the W1070 ’s armoury are active shutter 3D playback (though no glasses are included as standard) and its short-throw lens, which can give you a 100-inch picture from a throw distance of just 2.5m."

Sods law. I bought the W1070 from Richer Sounds less than 2 weeks ago at £469

Having said that, its my first projector and the one product that had everyones mouth dropping. Just amazing

would it be worth selling w0170 for the plus? got the w1070 but used it for like 5 mins due waiting for a room to be decorated !!

just need Richersounds to price match to get 5 year guarantee

I think the problem with that would be that this offer expires at midnight and Richer Sounds currently have no (online) stock.

I don't believe the difference is that different between the two models other than the wireless function

What like at 5 meters?

What like at 5 meters?

About 160", hence why I can't use it, would be too big for viewing distance.

Very very tempted. Can anyone personally recommend this? I previously briefly had a Optoma HD131Xe which I loved (but sent back as the price dropped), and have been looking for a new option...

How much are new bulbs? And how long do they last for?

I am always amazed how a very subtle change in product name can make all the difference. As a consumer we always have to be alert.

Think before ordering one of these - I used to repair projectors for a living and the BenQ bulbs only lasted around 2-3 years (if that) and it cost around £300 to replace them.

Can anyone advice me how the wireless works on these? I have always wanted a projector but routing the wires always put me off,
Many Thanks

Yes, can we trust you that you or any one who made 1% gaff in your A level exam when you got 99% right? The answer is yes, every time. Not even a prime minister gets 100% in his/her exams , no reason why anyone need to be 100% to be trusted.

When it's an ongoing trend though you vote out a prime-minister and get a new one. So it's perfectly valid to ask if this is an old has-been we can stick at the back of the lords and ignore to keep them happy, or someone whose opinion we should be valuing still.

Yeah my W1080st does 100" from around 1.5m.

Does this price include the wireless kit? It sounds like a neat idea, I wonder if it works on the W1080st too

Is it possible that bulb lives are improving and prices are falling? They appear to be nowhere near that price on Amazon.

I wouldn't claimed a throw of 2.5m as short myself. Middling at best.

You have to buy an accessory which looks to be about £300 - £350:

My project box is 5 meter from my screen.. No good then we saying?

What other recommendations? Was looking at Optoma HD141X?

Would like a deal of course, but really after the superior model from in and around this price range.

Can anyone advise on the latency?

Totally agree. Lots of other issues too imho. Sport/Fast actions scenes are rubbish - blur and judder. Went into RS to buy one but walked out with an Epson costing x3 the amount. You pay for what you get.

On amazon.de, the kit is EUR464 (~£350) but the difference in price between the W1070+ with/without the kit is only EUR 222 (~£165)

Hi all,
I am totally novice with projectors but was planning to go for 1 to watch those special matches/movies with friends. My budget is around this price, should I just go for it. I am at work, so cant do much research, but is it like once in a year offer or can I get something similar for a similar price if I shop around?
I was planning for a philips PicoPix projector which has LED bulb, so there is no worries about changing bulbs etc, but this is in a different league it seems.
Or will this do the job that I am looking for
http://www.amazon.co.uk/2800Lumens-DBPOWER-LED-86-Definition-Projector/dp/B00D3EVUGS/
Any input please?
And also do I need a screen for it or will a light coloured wall be fine?
Thanks

Read reviews. Do your research. Then buy one. If you buy cheap you buy twice. And if you're playing a lot you want it to do the job.

Light coloured wall may be okay if its flawless. Any imperfections will show up when you're watching.

For the money, you will not find anything better than this offer. This projector is in a different league than any LED option.
Bulb is not a problem - it is going to last you many years if you use projector a few hours per day and new one is only about 40-50 quid anyway.

And you likely to upgrade to a 4K projector or something like that in 5 years time anyway.

yeah, only W1080ST+ according to the Benq website. These + models do side projection which might be good for some
