Amazon are currently running a 10% off promotion on stationery. I sorted it by highest price first and there are a number of items that could score big discounts like the projector or a lovely Visconti Pen ( http://amzn.eu/dO11TCQ )

The projector seems to be very highly rated for home theatre.

I have the short throw version (W1210ST) and can confirm it's a good projector. Much quieter than the previous revisions (i.e. W1070) but also nearly 1.5x larger.

My only complaint is the fans. Every now and then I get a clicking/chirping from one of the fans on the right hand side. Giving it a hard tap, or changing settings to high altitude mode (ramps up fan rpm) is the only thing that fixes it, but it comes back. Reading up online, this is a common problem with several benq projectors, and is a result of very cheap ball bearings in the fans. I might eventually replace the fan, as I bought mine on ebay for about 500 (new but likely without warranty).
I still like my deal on the Acer predator I got - £350 with 2 pairs of 3ds glasses and carry case ;-)

was a month old and someone wanted a quick sale

I'm embarrassed for your neediness-issues and I don't even know you.

Funny!

...yeah, what are we spending hours upon hours, scouring the deal free-ads for, if not to be seduced by items we have no need for?! I too, spit upon your contentment (I'm happy too with my Epson and 6yr warranty from Richer Sounds deal - no 3D glasses though, nice one!)

If you can get to it, try a tiny drop of something like sewing machine oil on the bearing of the fan that's clicking. I've fixed completely stuck fans in my 3D printer that way.

I was tempted by some of these deals earlier in the week when the bulb on my ProjectionDesign F22 SX+ started dimming, but eventually decided to replace the bulb instead.

Anybody know if this is significantly better than the W1070/W1090 models
Also voted hot just for finding the promotion
I am intersted in purchasing a projecter for my new cinema room. Are these 1080p? Are they the same as watching it on an LED TV?

Yes to 1080p, no to LED TV. For one, they have no tuner built in so can't get a TV signal without a separate box. For two, they're nowhere near as bright as an LED TV so suffer during daytime viewing. Their main benefit is that you can project an image that is well over 100" diagonally, an equivalent TV would cost more than the house it lives in.
Fantastic projector. Image quality is great and fan noise is quiet.

Not a bad price, I got mine for £799 from richer sounds with a 6 year warranty
