Good price for a decent monitor, have some heat.

Decent price! have some heat Vassy

I'm a bit bamboozled by all the chatter about 144hz, G-Sync (for NVIDIA cards), etc...do we really need it (I know you need to have a high-end graphics card...but...)? I realise it's probably a dumb comment

You don't NEED it , but once you experience it you won't ever want to go back , provides such a smoother playing experience , especially compared to consoles which usually run at 30fps

Variable refresh rate is a free smoothness boost with no performance impact that works in every game. It's the sort of image quality improvement with no downside that comes along rarely.

Well, Nvidia being Nvidia they've added the downside that they're only supporting it on monitors with their own G-sync hardware and not the standard DisplayPort/HDMI version (which AMD promotes under the Freesync name).

High refresh rates make motion look smoother but they require matching high frame rates to work, which means a powerful card. They're often paired with backlight strobing/black frame insertion which enhances the effect. Unless developers make those frame rates standard it's purely of interest to those willing to invest substantial extra money in graphical improvements.

In terms of consoles, the Xbox One X will support variable refresh rate but they're chasing the other computational elephant that is 4K, so I wouldn't expect high frame rates to become The Next Big Thing for consoles for a few years yet.

back up to full price on amazon so please expire

Typical Amazon.......

HEAT... Good deal for those who managed to get it at that price!

any deals on a wrist strap for this e-sports monitor?

For anyone else interested:
TN Panel (I suppose obviously given the refresh rates)
Resolution: 1920 x 1080p (Full HD)

I am unfortunately looking for a 27" 2560 x 1440, small frame monitor (I really want the Dell UP2716D with built in KVM).
Voted hot.

There were a few on Amazon Warehouse for that price, yesterday, definitely, don't know about today. Some graded Used - Like New and a few with scratches that were a little cheaper.
