A really good looking tent. I almost bought one of these but was put off by issues with the air beams which dont hold up well in the heat, leaks and long term durability issues. Add in the increased pack size and weight. I went for a traditional pole version in the end.

We have a smaller one and I admit that is a concern, plus the availability of spares seems sporadic.

I feel if anyone is struggling space wise John's approach is sensible - about half the size/weight. We went air as my wife often goes camping without me and air is alot easier to put up on your own

Have this with the carpet, groundsheet and recently purchased the porch to go with it. We're off to Cornwall tomorrow for a week and really enjoy using it - really good product and a really good price (think we paid £650 last year). Putting it up really is a breeze and handles bad weather well - no regrets purchase.

    Have some heat OP

You can add the essentials bundle that includes the groundsheet and carpet for an extra £75 which I think is great value. Good find OP.

You can also add the Porch at a discounted price. We bought this package last weekend: Air 8.1 nightfall + carpet + footprint + porch for £809. The porch is 260cm x 345cm, so a useful amount of space for shoe and general storage.

We went fro the 6.1 with the carpet/groundsheet combo. Off to the lakes in a month to try out.

    Heat added.

We were a mile from the South Pole when a big storm broke. Managed to cram in 25 huskies and the wife. (edited)

Millets, Blacks, Go Outdoors - all pretty much the same place and will price match

    This isn't a tent....it's a homestead!

If you have room in your boot for one of these, it's a very solid tent. Goes up quickly too. I've seen one of these survive a bad storm while my tent was flattened and poles snapped. I bought an air tent afterwards (not this one though)

I've never done camping in a large tent like this (only ever one or two person) - are there ever any problems with camp sites and pitch sizes with a tent that's 7.5m long? With guy ropes that's going to be absolutely huge.

Previously I had been looking at the decathlon Air Seconds 6.3, but at £524 for this 8.1 + groundsheet + carpet this seems like a bargain

This isn't really that big, its only 3 metres wide, which is quite narrow for an 8 birth tent, most places this will be fine, we have a 7.5mx5m tent

Hah, they're always "on sale" randomly. It just means they make 200% profits rather than 400%
