First time go easy!

17' Gaming Laptop at a good price for the specs been searching for the past day or two after my XMG died after 4 years use.

Very good specs for the price and 17' to boot:

  • GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics card
  • 17.3 Inch Screen
  • Intel Core i7 7700HQ Processor
  • 8 GB RAM (easy upgrade DIY)
  • 1TB Hard Drive + 128GB SSD
  • Windows 10 Operating System
  • 2 year warranty

Most other offers with the same spec are 1300+ (on 17') even more on gaming brands with same specs (Alienware/XMG etc)

3gb or 6gb gpu?
Not the best price for these. I picked up my Asus ROG with a gtx 1060 6gb for £999. If you can be patient you can get this sort of spec for cheaper.
Is the GPU ram listed anywhere on the web page? I cannot find it.

Where from and how long ago?
Would you buy XMG again? I think they're Clevo builds.
I have a Clevo P651SG and I don't think I'd buy another one - have had quite a few problems.

Id rate them well for performance and price 4 years ago.

Now the brand has boomed up a bit they're overpriced. Id still rate them good for reliability and performance but the clevo build makes them a nightmare post warranty if you have problems.

What was the problem with yours? In 18 months I've had faulty screen, plastic breaking off around 3 sides, and now a faulty battery causing the charge point to become extremely hot which in turn affects the screen again. I've had to remove the battery to solve it, but not quite willing to spend the £60-70 to replace it just yet.

Gosh similar here and then the ransomwar
Screen went. I move around a lot so it was inevitable but yours sounds a bit more problematic.... do you use a laptop cooler stand with fans ??

Edit:
More than just screen mobo also it's in for repair right now But due an upgrade anyways !

My xmg has been excellent. Thinking of selling mine soon to upgrade. It's only a couple of years old and still has a years warranty so hopefully should get a decent price for it.

No I decided against extra cooling due to the fairly impressive internal cooling and fans. (see here )
The brand is Zoostorm but in all honesty, I can't fault that company at all, they've been exceptional during the warranty period replacing the screen and very helpful since it expired - for example giving me their supplier contact for batteries.

I'd probably lean towards Dell Outlet Alienwares next time around though.

15' though

Hence the 'similar' part
Is this better than Dell Alienware?
