Im off to spain next week and have been looking for the best rates on Foreign exhange I was getting about 1.415 to the pound best on the highstreet.
1.43 at HSBC free delivery (if ordering over 250) or free branch collection.
Same rates as Travelex who supply them with the currency, but without the worry of picking up at the airport.

BTW rate is better online then just walking into a branch

Thats what I do

I have used these guys a few times now with no problems, ]crowncurrencyexchange.com

You need to order at least 2 weeks in advance but it's delivered for free and no fees (mostly).

Their rate was only .5 more (1.435) but it depends on how much you want and when you want it.

Hope it helps.

Remember the golden word DEBIT card, DO NOT USE a CREDIT card to get cash from an ATM as you'll get hit with a cash advance fee and daily interest, even if you pay off your full balance every month. Robbin gits!

Marks and Spencers usually have the best rates!!

If you happen to have a Nationwide CREDIT card you can use it wherever accepts it with no charges also (doesnt apply to cash machine withdrawals only shops etc)

How much cash do you actually need in Spain? If you've got credit cards then use them 'cos it's safer. The Nationwide conversion rate always appears to give the best value so maybe you should get one?

The best way to save money is not to spend any in the first place.

But as you're on holiday, I'd say go for safety and use cards where you can and pick up whatever cash you need thru local ATMs when you require it -that's IMHO anyway.

Don't forget it is always advisable to have a mixture of different monetary instruments. So some foreign cash (bought in advance), a debit and/or a credit card in the minimum.
