Hot if this does youtube and netflix which I believe it does. Correct me if I am wrong.

Most, if not all Youview boxes do everything this box does. You are best to pick up a new box on EBAY from a BT or cable customer who was given one as a part of their contract but doesn't use it - some great bargains to be had.

Not sure why the cold votes !
Amazon price £248 is it cheaper somewhere else?

Agree im giving up the tivo box as virgin makes at least £70 a year on my package with the tivo box.

Tempted now on the bt box listed above for half the price.

Not sure if the specs are equal though not just the HDD size. Upsacling to 1080p sounds low quality.

Humax sell a lot of refurbished stuff, so much of it they even sell it on their website... not a good sign in my eyes... Refurb

Just wait a few months! XBox One is set to get a PVR soon according to rumours. You can buy a basic XB1 (500GB, no games) for about 220-240, and the tuner is 20. Tuner works great

I bought a brand new Humax DTR-T2100 which is the BT one off ebay for £65.00 + postage. It's a nice box and quite a bit smaller than the DTR-T1010 brick. It maybe only 500gb but it replaced my 320gb talk talk youview which I never got to fill up and I never got the chance to watch half of what I taped. 1tb for me would be just pointless. As for the price it's not really a deal. The 500 gb was on offer at Currys a while back at £149.99 last time I looked. It's also 99p cheaper direct from Humax and Richer Sounds.

I know many people who have purchased the refurbished stuff from Humax, you'd never know it was ever used and I have to agree that all the Humax stuff I've used has been great. Can't understand the cold votes.

States it can be connected by Internet OR external aeriel, my youview box is connected by Internet but still needs the external aerial? what do I need to change to ditch the aerial?

I would guess that if you ditch the aerial you won't be able to watch live TV, only catch up.

I have a youview box from Bt and it's so painfully slow. To the point of hating it. I don't know if the newer ones are better though

Have you got the older big Humax Youview same size as the one in the post or the smaller DTR-T2100. I have the smaller box as well as the TalkTalk Youview box made by Huawei. The talktalk box is slow to populate the tv guide. Evidently this is a problem with Youview and nothing to do with the fact it's a BT box. I asked the guy in Richer Sounds plus did my own research on the forums. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The one thing I noticed on mine though is the box seems to build up a lot of static and it performs much better for a while if you turn it off at the plug. I do that to mine about once a week and find it performs so much better. Recently I tried to watch Humans on catch up on channel 4. It took ages to load and then said it wasn't available. Went on my laptop and it loaded straight away. Turned the youview box off and back on again and managed to watch Humans ok. It was just a little glitchy when coming out of the adverts but after about 5 seconds it would be fine. Fantastic picture but sometimes these things just need turning off. It has never failed to record a scheduled recording unlike my skybox.

Unfortunately it seems that nobody will ever do as good an epg as sky but Youview is not bad, it just needs to be faster.

Had one for 1 year 2 weeks they did replace it , but i have had 2 more replacement boxes lasting only 1 month each in the last 2 months and now just about to change a third box again only had it 2 days.
Do they test them before they send it out ? I don't think so !
