Could use my voucher too. Wonder if 2m is long enough, I just need a HDMI to temporarily connect my PC build to the TV whilst I save up for a monitor.

Think I'd rather pay a little more and get 1.3c ones with a 120Mhz refresh rate and 15.2Gbs Transfer, at least that way I know there is no lag in the visual experience and if 1440p ever hits the prime it's supported also.

Thanks for your post

I've added a price and a retailer name to your title, we always try to include these when posting deals, thanks.

2p cheaper at the hut, good deal either way. actually really good deal for 2m cable from a decent etailer.

This is a 1.3 cable see the wiki for more info. there's no difference between 1.3 a, b or c, all have a 10.2gbit limit:

HDMI 1.3b, 1.3b1 and 1.3c were released on March 26, 2007, November 9, 2007, and August 25, 2008 respectively. They do not introduce differences on HDMI features, functions, or performance[101], but only describe testing for products based on the HDMI 1.3a specification regarding HDMI compliance (1.3b [92][102][103]), the HDMI Type C Mini connector (1.3b1 [92][102][103]), and active HDMI cables (1.3c [62][104]).[101]

Jeez-I thought he was joking! (If you want to future proof beyond the irrelevant - £3.99 and 1.4, 3D,4k x 2k with ethernet! - hotukdeals.com/ite…-hd )

Personally, I'm waiting for the one that comes comes in its own purified air bubble to be delivered....

I think the camp A in the hdmi is hdmi camp and camp B who believes all the marketing waffle and a £300 lead has got to be better group should meet up in the car park and whip hell out each other with their hdmi leads.

The one that gives in first has the worst hdmi lead...simples

peeps i am gonna start selling my own hdmi cables, with my cables you can actually see the tiny 0's and 1's and it will work with the xbox 720 / ps4 with its super reality engine hologram graphics chip!

lol

Just bought one £1.99 delivered from eBay.
I recommend only using eBay for cables!

just brought one not bad price for a hdmi cable!

Where did you bring it from?

This is how HDMI cables should be priced (obviously a bit more for braided ones with better durability), and the 1.3 spec is sufficient for 99% of people anyway.

Hi,

Good price for a decent cable.

Just ordered, thanks :thumbsup:

If you can suffer losing 0.2 of a metre, go for one of these from Amazon markekplace for £1.99 -

Sorry - why is that?

I'm almost certain there can be no difference between different cable prices surely its just the same? Its not like you'd buy a scanner or something and then straight away ditch the cable for a £200 one to get your printing done quicker is it?

Am I missing something? Also don't understand why you'd want to "future proof" items like this when they're so cheap and readily available. You're likely to get one thrown in with whatever you buy in future that requires a later design?

Surely its just nuts!?

Did you mean to quote me there?

I bought it cos i needed a cable! And 1.99 for 2m is better than 2.99 :-)

BEST hdmi cables? .....surely an issue for trades description,

if you are paying this kind of money you might aswell spend £1 extra and get a HDMI 1.4 cable! voted cold, this isn't even 1.3c and yet it says "best" and is expensive compared to most other places.

A HDMI lead is a HDMI lead, it doesnt matter what 1.3 version it is.

Dont even bother with 1.4, even with 3D TVs. Dont buy '3D TVs/3D blu ray players' either, its a load of marketing garbage. They wont sell, and they will die faster than HD DVD. I can watch 3d movies on my own plasma tv, but can I be bothered with it? No.

Next thing you know Specsavers will be offering pairs of '3DTV Compatible' glasses and contact lenses, for the cheap price of £200 for a format that will die out the same year its released :whistling:

Sorry for the rant... I'm just laughing at how Sony think 3DTV will save the recession.

I have recently invested in an HDTV. After a lot of research I have come to the conclusion that there is no difference between this cable and one thats ten times the cost.

Because it is a digital signal, it either works or doesn't. A friend of mine showed me yesterday, that my 360 looks loads better with HDMI, so I am investing in this deal.

HOT from me

Yeah just wondered why you'd ONLY use ebay exclusively for cable purchasing - just the price?

Yes - 3D uses exactly the same data rates as 1080p (as it shows twice as many 720p images - alternately (one per eye) giving the 3D effect). Therefore there is absolutely no different in data transfer rate.

I read the same thing on a different website. Makes sense to me. There was also piece on the gadget show about this.

They had two identical TV's, one using a cheap HDMI cable the other a so called "premium." They noticed no difference what so ever.

Yeah I know, lol. But it is further evidence that there is little difference between HDMI cables.

Judging from the replies so far i'm guessing the answer will be NO but anyway...

Is there any benefit on replacing the hdmi cable that came with Sky with this one? The gold plated plugs make any difference at all?

I got this one: £3.99
amazon.co.uk/gp/…-21
Technical Details

* HDMI Ethernet Channel
* Audio Return Channel
* 3D Over HDMI
* 4K x 2K Resolution Support
* Gold Plated - Lifetime Warranty

Lifetime Warranty and 1.4 compatible won it for me. £3.99

FYI - after 2 years use one of my ebay cables has stopped working. Paid more then, than I can now from normal retailers.

You guys need to shut up about the merits of cheap HDMI cables. When will you understand that the economy of this country relies on gullible people paying over the odds for over-hyped, over marketed, over-priced stuff they don't need in shiny boxes?

There's a recession to get out of you know :-D

Any idea when cables starting with a 2. are likely to come out? I want one of those.

Yes. HDMI cables specifically carry a digital signal. Thus, either they work or don't work. There is no such thing as a higher quality HDMI cable than the other. There is a specification difference, with cables ranging from HDMI 1.1 to 1.3 however that is more of a product based argument.

If you can get them much more cheaply on eBay, and have no issues with using eBay, why wouldn't you?
