£31.99 on ebay, not a massive saving... not enough to impulse buy. ebay

I got this 12 socket one last week for less - very happy with it.

Amazon link (click)

It has only 2 switches (front 6 + USBs on one & rear 6 on other). Lower power rating & fewer USB sockets. Suits my needs perfectly - able to split the devices that need to be on permanently on the rear & switch everything else off with a single switch. I measured the USB voltage to be 5.1v on all sockets.

12 socket but only rated up to 10Amps / max 2500w. For computer and AV stuff it should be more than ample.

Got a 20 year old MasterPlug 10 plug power tower which doesn't need much of an excuse to fall over and its tall and narrow layout dictates where different adapters have to be plugged in for all the sockets to be used at the same time so you end up unplugging then plugging them all in again to prevent plug clash.
It seems the design with these things is always an afterthought. With the Bestek, they've gone to a little effort to make it look clean, won't dominate a desk and in an office scenario, you can rest a tablet, or phone out of the way whilst it's charging.

Bought a Bestek a year or so ago and was impressed with USB charging performance as well as it not getting in the way during use.

Looks good
Why does this remind me of red dwarf?
If I plugged this into a single socket extension (so it could reach further than the 1.8m) am I adding a weak link in the chain? or will it not matter and protect my items anyway?

Apparently frowned upon.

Paid full price for this. It's excellent, the USB sockets are powering various TV boxes etc without skipping a beat. The cheaper ones have some bad reviews of the USB sockets in particular. Worth the extra

I've found the individual USB indicators provide some reassurance when USB charging is actually taking place.
(Last thing you need is a port that constantly provides power once the connected device has reached full charge.)
One less thing to be concerned about.

I just find that it works really well with the task at hand.
If Apple made one of these, they'd need replacing every couple of years or they'd send some sort of firmware update over the national grid to slow it down.

Quite a few of the negative reviews says the USB ports pack in after a few months. How long have you had yours?
