Bestway 10ft Fast Set Pool - Instore B&Q half price £30

Found 14th Jul 2013
Bought one of these pools yesterday in B&Q Aintree. There was one left when we got ours, and that was taken straight after us, so didn't bother posting it up.

Went back in today and they had loads more on a pallet near the door.

Ground needs to be pretty much level, and it takes hours to fill! Kids have loved it in the sun today though.

RRP £59.99, but £30 Instore. Comes complete with the pump and cover.

not recommended for people with water meters

These are hundred quid on the Bay!! I saw a couple yesterday in Poole and thought ooh! Perhaps I should take the 'plunge'

Took me six weeks to fill.
Then it rained.

Bought last year at this price. Used for the first time at my sons 4th bday party yesterday and all the kids loved it. I even had a cheeky go myself about 8.30 but it was a touch chilly! Hot at this price.

What's the mother and daughter looking at in that picture?
Is that grandad doing the front crawl?
Bigger pool than it looks or grandad is from Lilliput.

Oh, it's the kids feet.
Must be very interesting feet.

Thats one expensive portion of lg chips. Only £1.95 down my local chinky !

Lol, it does take a long time to fill. Think it took us about 3-4 hours yesterday

I'll use a hose next time

is this national

waste of money:-
- takes hours to fill
- Make sure you have 12ft clear space
- even in hot temp its freezing, id suggest a heater
- water gets dirty quickly
- pool is a nightmare to clean - binned ours after a year

Mine's out again from last year and its in constant use. I bought a chemical floater and tablets from eBay for about a tenner; that combined with the cover and the filter u only have to fill it once (and a fishing net for the grass!).

Great pool, bargain at £30, I bought the filter alone for £25 - lol

They are not a waste of money, they just need to be managed. I set mine up when the weather starts to warm up and then leave the same water in for the rest of the year occasionally doing partial changes. To keep the water clean you need to use chemicals like any pool, easiest form of doing this are tester strips and chlorine tablets that go in a pool floater when its not in use. A net to get bits of grass out and bugs etc is also useful. To keep the temperature up get a solar cover for it and if you intend to use it often worth investing in or even making your own solar heater. Usually best buying at the end of the season when you get get them for around £15

I've had 1 before and i now have another and am in agreement im having to change the water every few days and its always freezing even after baking in 30c heat all day the inside is slimey when you empty it and you spend ages trying to clean it.

Any one else managed to get one of these ? thanks

i cant even find it on B&Spew website

I just emptied my 8ft one and was surprised by the amount of slime - it's been up a week and looked okay until yesterday.

Is it as simple as getting a chemical floater (and some chemicals obviously) and add a cover then to negate the need to empty, clean and refill?

I'm lucky I'm not on a water meter but takes a good 2-3 hours to fill which doesn't help with the kids itching to get in

We've got a 15' steel framed one & on a water meter oO
I take a meter reading before and after, costs around £30 to fill, takes 2 days.
I have had the same pool for 4 years, before this one, had the one in the OP.
I simply run the filter every night, all night if the pool has had heavy usage, and have chlorine tablets which go into a float on top of the water.
I have 2 heaters, but quite honestly, they're really expensive to run, being 5KW each, and takes too long to make much of a difference to the temperature.
I found the best way to heat the water is with a solar cover, buy at end of season, normally around £15
This heats the top foot or so of the pool, but once you've chucked the kids in and the water gets swirled around, it's not so bad.
I also made my own solar panel which I use occasionally with a pond pump. I also use the pond pump to help empty the pool at the end of the season.
Developed a small leak a couple years back, applied the underwater cement and patch which fixed it.
Just need to make sure it's completely dry before storing away for winter.

We got one today at B&Q beeston and it was still £60. Gonna look tomorrow to see if reduced but wasn't at lunch time today.

Yes. I get all my supplies from ebay. If you get slime or green then you just need to give it a super charge of tablets overnight or something and it eats it away.

As for the temperature, mine warms up after a day in the sun? It's never going to be like a heated pool, I'm not sure what some people expect. I would like to say it's NOT a paddling pool, so needs a lot of water to fill and then you need to maintain it.

I think some people just think 600 gallons of water will look after itself in the sun!

i had a 12' one and also binned it after a year. Despite daily cleaning and chemicals and i had the lot! i had ph balancers and anti fungal stuff and all sorts!

I had two filters and two pumps on mine running all night! and a cover and a heater...........it was stil cold although good for hang over cures.

Not worth the hassle in my opinion

Oh and yes the slime is very bad.

ALTHOUGH whilst it was up i guess it was worth every penny as the kids enjoyed every second of it!

Mine has been between 32 and 34 degrees for the last week running using a solar cover and solar mat to heat it. Leaving the water in all through the warm season I have never had any slime, the first year it started to get a bit slimey on the edges but after reading up on how to manage a swimming pool on the net I have been able to stay on top of it. Although its just a big paddling pool if you want to leave water in the management of them is pretty much the same as if you had a proper pool and takes a bit of time and effort to keep on top of it. Thankfully when its cold and its not used that time and effort is reduced and when you get a week like we have just have you cant beat these for something that doesn't cost a great deal or take up too much space.

been to the Coventry binley store this morning none there the lady checked the computer to see if any at more local stores but doesn't look like any in the west midlands or Warwickshire

Looked in my local this morning (Aberdeen, Bridge of Don) and no luck
