Betrayal at House on the Hill is a cracking modern board game that see's players working together initially to explore a haunted mansion.
After a time something happens which changes the game to a one-vs-many, with one player representing the 'haunt' and the remaining players working together to defeat or escape.
You will need 3+ hours for a first play, and more people the better.
A cracking price for a very highly regarded game!

I'll admit it might be a bit of a gamble yes. Although even with the original the components were garbage anyway!
I'm always the haunt. Every damn time. Not that I mind being insanely overpowered of course!
I remember the player tiles being terrible. coult never get the score sliders to stay on!
Yeah it's such a shame and definitely a massive candidate for an updated edition. Having said that, heard great things about Betrayal Legacy also... just need the friends!
Have some heat.
The first time we played it was a laugh but every time since the experience was marred by ambiguous rules or no-win situations.
We've only played it once as well and it was good fun. Was a bit of an off haunt though. Not monsters, just the betrayer chasing you and you had to blow the boiler up. Enjoyed it!
Twice we've had a haunt that was insta-win for the betrayer because of the tiles that had (or hadn't) turned over previously. The trouble is that each haunt is a mini ruleset all of it's own and the amount of playtesting that would be required to make sure they all work with even the majority of likely starting positions would be insane.
There is also the fact that having 50 sub-games actually seems to limit re-playability in that I wouldn't want to get the same haunt twice.
Shame because, like I say, I love the idea and really enjoyed it the first time I played it.
Despite this being my deal i'm inclined to agree, looking at that feedback! Maybe someone will take a punt though, I'm sure even a seconds copy could be relied on for 17 quid of fun.

Tbh that sounds like the legit copy that I've played
Sounds genuine to me, played it again on Friday and the legit set is the same. Enjoyed it but not as much as last time as the haunt wasn't as good. Was almost an insta win for the good guys.
The haunts are reasonably well explained, it just takes one experienced player to fairly resolve any conflicts arising.
As long as you give your group enough time (at least 3 hours!) you'll have a good time.
