Betrayal at House on the Hill is a cracking modern board game that see's players working together initially to explore a haunted mansion.

After a time something happens which changes the game to a one-vs-many, with one player representing the 'haunt' and the remaining players working together to defeat or escape.

You will need 3+ hours for a first play, and more people the better.

A cracking price for a very highly regarded game!

Played this a few times with friends. Really good fun as long as you don’t end up stuck in the basement
Unforntaly seems like a counterfeit copy. Seller feedback indicates a few problems with this game. Fun game tho!

I'll admit it might be a bit of a gamble yes. Although even with the original the components were garbage anyway!

I'm always the haunt. Every damn time. Not that I mind being insanely overpowered of course!

Yeah it's such a shame and definitely a massive candidate for an updated edition. Having said that, heard great things about Betrayal Legacy also... just need the friends!
Got to be fake at this price but the original miniatures are terrible anyway so probably wouldn't make much difference
Have some heat.
A fantastically themed game that was really let down by both production quality and apparent lack of playtesting
The first time we played it was a laugh but every time since the experience was marred by ambiguous rules or no-win situations.

We've only played it once as well and it was good fun. Was a bit of an off haunt though. Not monsters, just the betrayer chasing you and you had to blow the boiler up. Enjoyed it!

Twice we've had a haunt that was insta-win for the betrayer because of the tiles that had (or hadn't) turned over previously. The trouble is that each haunt is a mini ruleset all of it's own and the amount of playtesting that would be required to make sure they all work with even the majority of likely starting positions would be insane.

There is also the fact that having 50 sub-games actually seems to limit re-playability in that I wouldn't want to get the same haunt twice.

Shame because, like I say, I love the idea and really enjoyed it the first time I played it.
Great game, but get it from somewhere legit. Check boardgameprices UK

Despite this being my deal i'm inclined to agree, looking at that feedback! Maybe someone will take a punt though, I'm sure even a seconds copy could be relied on for 17 quid of fun.
Yeah, hard pass on this despite being in the market for it. Fake and not supporting the makers in the slightest.
there is another listing for £16.99 but frankly these look dodgy as heck. would love to hear if anyone recieves one and what state it's in.
FYI (from this seller's feedback)

Tbh that sounds like the legit copy that I've played
Got one. Appears legit however the box was shipped via EasyJet bag handlers if you know what I mean
Eh, I'll give it a go. If fake, I hope it's decent enough to play.
A friend ordered a copy a few weeks ago and the print quality is terrible! These may not be fake tho as I have seen a copy brought from Zatu and the quality on that is equally as bad. Maybe they are all like it
Got mine. Honestly, pretty tough to tell if fake or not. Leaning towards fake but after reading online and seeing official versions, it's not a huge leap to say it's just a bad edition. The figures are hysterical though. Some of them look like that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where they open the ark and that guy with glasses melts. Looks playable and is legible so that'll do for an evening at least.

Sounds genuine to me, played it again on Friday and the legit set is the same. Enjoyed it but not as much as last time as the haunt wasn't as good. Was almost an insta win for the good guys.
That's the issue I'm worried about. The people I play board games with are very unfamiliar with games outside Monopoly, UNO, Articulate etc unless I show them a new game. A game with a bunch of rules and an uneven or unfair end game seems a quick way to put them off trying it again. Not a big loss at this price though ha
Its not so hard. Walk around and resolve events.

The haunts are reasonably well explained, it just takes one experienced player to fairly resolve any conflicts arising.

As long as you give your group enough time (at least 3 hours!) you'll have a good time.
