Hahaha! Just feed it to unsuspecting visitors instead! They'll be impressed, and you'll be satisfied that they'll get fat

Made one with my son one rainy saturday afternoon. Lemon drizzle. The wife was amazed at how well it came out.

The pre made icing contains palm oil, if any wants to know.the home of the orangutans in buneo is being burnt down and replaced with palm oil farms. Not good. Im no green hippie by any means but such destruction is appalling. Easier to make your own with butter and icing sugar.

And normally I do! But to impress people this stuff is great! Especially if you don't have the time to make everything from scratch Doesn't hurt buying a couple of bits to have ready in the back of the cupboard

Exactly why I haven't bought any. If everyone bought a couple, that's quite a lot!

easier to have a box of icing sugar and some butter in the fridge. Try telling that to the natives and orangutans of borneo. Buying none is better. Buying one you may as well buy 20

AVOID THE "RED VELVET" CAKE MIX LIKE THE PLAGUE.

This "english-fied" version of Red Velvet cake tastes and looks NOTHING like the real thing. It comes out anemic looking and is essentially a glorified chocolate sponge.

A REAL red velvet should be moist, dense, BRIGHT RED and have an amazing sour taste.

If you want to try this out from a box (rather than making from scratch which can be a bit involved) - get a proper US imported bake mix like the Duncan Hines brand.

You've been warned!

PS although the UK Betty Devil's food cake mix is rather yummy :P

Looked at these yesterday, most (not all) require a significant amount/cost of other ingredients, so significantly more cost than £1.50 for the final product

What's the point of premade buttercream icing?
It's icing suger , butter, vanilla essence, hot water and milk mixed together - not difficult!

I get what you're all saying but we could go round in circles. There are plenty of things we all buy/ waste that may effect the environment/ animals/ third world countries but if you thought like that about everything we buy we'd literally never buy anything. Kudos to you for wanting to save the orangutans though I do have icing sugar etc in the cupboard but it never tastes this good- especially when trying to make the chocolate fudge flavours etc. And scooping this straight out the pot is way easier when I'm rushing around trying to bake for visitors whilst trying to entertain the kids lol yup, I'm lazy!

It's a hot deal because it's cheaper than usual.
Why do people get all excited posting about the ethics/ sustainability/ virtue of buying this icing, this is a deals site!

betty crocker products taste awful! being good at baking, my family didnt like her products compared to home made cakes. I guess they are ok for ppl with lesser taste buds

I think it's fab and so did my visitors, I've had one from the Cheesecake Factory in NY and this was just as nice, you should give it another go!

This stuff is like wax, easier to drip a lit candle on your baking!!

I used it yesterday and it was really really soft. It does say to stir it with a knife before you spread it and that worked perfectly
