Lots of reasons not to use these. Permanently 'on' is just one of them.

True of so many things though, fridges, microwave clock, cooker clock, most hifi's, most consumer products that don't have a mains switch, smart phone chargers, Google Home, Alexa smart thingy, LED remote lightbulbs, TV in standby, skybox, modem router, boiler timer and numerous other pointless things people seem happy to leave plugged in 24/7

I'd say that these are arguably much safer than the many millions of deadly cheap £1 phone chargers people use all over their homes and offices.

What makes them not reputable?
I've ordered 15 from them and so have others.
No searching or checking stock required. Also no going out of the way to collect it.
It's only heat bro lol
It would be so much better if one half contained one plug socket, the other half contained two USB sockets with a switch and the two halves were divided by substantial insulation and space.
Does this facilitate fast charging?

It doesn't unfortunately. Wish they made ones that did.

I ordered one from them and have it in use at the moment, works great!
easy to install?
Bought these a couple of months ago when deal was last on. Had no bother with them so far. Heat. Feels like plugs are becoming one of those ‘only buy when on sale’ kinda things...
Buy 'MK' brand for piece of mind. Expensive but reputable.
Good price for 3.1A USB ports
may buy a few
TLC Direct has those for 6.50.
Recently I had 10 of this installed at my place. I would not recommend it if you have adaptors, chargers, night lights, etc as once they are plugged in, not only the switches and the USB ports are inaccessible and impossible to use -
same price at B&Q, they also have the 3 and 4 usb versions.

If they didn't offer peace of mind I'd give them a piece of my mind!

Plenty of truths to this, its worth pointing out that unlike most of those devices, these sockets basically have an ‘always on’ transformer whether it’s in use or not and that has a higher potential to overheat or breakdown in time. They’re convenient, but inefficient compared to fast chargers and not worth a risk for my money. Although to others determined, be assured BG is a reputable brand who happen to make some of the best weatherproof sockets available so they know a thing or two.

Lastly, it’s obviously easy enough for anyone to kill a circuit and change a socket in their home, but the overwhelming dangers of a loose connection and bad earthing can be fatal. Leave no copper showing, tighten everything as much as with wrist strength (but not with bicep strength), and give the cables a good tug after to make sure nothing pops out. If you don’t have rcd/rcbo protection I would strongly discourage DIY’ers from messing with their installation in any way.
