hiya my son just started reception and we get these given to us for reading at home. It comes with a printed sheet of paper which has the full story on it and then it highlights the word on that paper that corresponds to the words in the book for your child to read. So they then say their part of the story. I will take a pic of it if u want x

Yes please that would help i have come across the phonics video on utube but im not really sure how i should teach with these books so seeing the paper maybe would give an idea . I just dont want to teach them wrong and confuse them . I was told i should teach yet as it may b eoverloded for the child and when it will b tought in nursery they will be bored . Even though children do enjoy books

I introduced my son to these books at 2. Start with level 1 and just teach your child the Phonics sounds as you hear them on YouTube. We found alphabet eye spy a brilliant book and then used to play eye spy on the way to nursery.

We would watch the jolly
phonics songs on YouTube to reinforce the learning.

Nursery suggested we slow down because he'd be too advanced when he got to school but that wasn't the case. He has at least 5 other children in his class reading at the same level.

But at the same time don't push it if your child doesn't enjoy it. Make it fun and let your child know that it's great to make mistakes, it's how we learn!

There are also instructions at the beginning of the book and a separate book for parents which explains how to use the books.

I bought these about 2 weeks ago from The Book People at work, brilliant books, however I am sure I didn't pay this much for them but I can't find my receipt so can't say how much they were.

if you Google Oxford reading books stage 1 u should be able to find the supporting notes for download and also the parents guide. Tbh in my opinion although they are great books, it's not worth buying these books as they are used in almost all school across the UK and are given to ur child. They also support the reading words (the coloured cards in pic) that are given to the children. You are better off focusing your time reach the sounds and phonetics via YouTube etc That will support your child ready for this stage x
My son loves these books! we bought these for him and they're well worth the money. Book People also have levels 4-6 (25 books) available for £12.99 thebookpeople.co.uk/web…PER
