Problem is, these gimmick steaks they do are always highly advertised and the stores only stock about a dozen or so and sell out within an hour or so of the shop opening if not less. This as always been the case for the last several years in the Aldis local to me atleast

I remember a year or so ago when they had the Tomahawk steak, people were lining up hours before the store even opened only to find out the store only had around 6 steaks

ASDA £10 /Kilo
Morrisons £10/Kilo
ALDI £10.99/Kilo
Gimmick
I never get these offers - it’s cheaper at Morrison’s to get a butcher to cut you exactly what you want and I can almost guarantee that (at least with our local store) it will be a better steak. This steak would be £4.54 in Morrison’s at the mo

I agree, after all the hype last few times I went and bought one couple months back, didn't think much of it.

Shame really as Aldis "normal" steaks are ok
Just in time for March 14th

Morrison's butcher is actually pretty decent!
A rump steak of this size from your LOCAL butcher would not only be a similar price, but likely much better quality meat from an animal that had a decent life.
Rushed in to Aldi a year or so ago for their special Wagyu steaks and they were extremely disappointing. So not sure I will not be rushing in for these.

Not an awful deal but Morrisons meat counter had rump for £10/kg last week.

I’m guessing they have might have more than one - but as i’ve never seen the counter in my local manned maybe they don’t.

They usually say a date in store when available, but always get delivered early so straight on shelf before, leaving none or little left..........Aldi worker told me this.
Hey diddle diddle, get a mouthfull of gristle

Agree. Last few rump steaks I’ve bought have been really chewy.

By contrast, had rump steak in a hotel a few years ago and you could cut it with a spoon, more akin to fillet.
Maybe I should read up on the best way to cook it rather than just griddle pan or bbq.......

I don't think that is necessarily true and Morrisons massively exceeds the standards of the other supermarkets owning its own abbattoirs which are all fully CCTV monitored. In comparison Aldi, Lidl's are many of the main UK supermarkets will import from anywhere if the price is right with little or no regard for animal welfare with very hit or miss quality in my opinion. Not that I always shop at Morrisons but in this area I think they are far superior to the other supermarkets
