BIG TRAK IS ON PRE ORDER AND WON'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID AUGUST 2010, WHICH MEANS YOU CAN ORDER IT NOW AND WE WON'T CHARGE YOUR CARD UNTIL IT IS IN STOCK AND READY TO BE DISPATCHED (unless you pay using paypal or google checkout because they charge you on placement of order). If there are other items in your order that are in stock, they will be dispatched straight away.

Back for 2010, Bigtrak! You might remember having one of these in the early 80's. Retro and cool, it's brand new for 2010.

This programmable educational toy is a six-wheeled tank with a front mounted blue photon beam headlamp used for firing. The centre wheels are driven by two motors to allow change of direction. Use the 23-button keypad to enter instructions for Bigtrak. Where do I want Bigtrak to go? In what direction? How many units will it take to reach my goal? When do I want Bigtrak to fire? Do I want Bigtrak to return to me along a different course? Bigtrak will execute 16 commands in one sequence, e.g. 'go forward 5 lengths', 'pause', 'turn 30 degrees right', 'fire phaser' and so on. There is a 'repeat' instruction allowing simple loops.

Bigtrak appeared in the movie, ET, alongside Drew Barrymore!

Re-live your childhood with this 21st century Bigtrak! A real 80's retro boys toy!

Quality. I'll have one please.

Never had one of these. Back in the day, my parents couldn't really afford one so I missed out. I think its a cracking, iconic 80's toy and I may just have to break out the credit card and get one !! Time to clear a space on the laminate flooring !!

Im so ordering this - I remember toy days at school and you had to bring something fantastic in order to be allowed a swap for a go on this (Im sure this was £100 back in the day)

Ebay always has alot on there second hand for less than tenner - not new but satisfied my 5 minutes of 'childhood memories' before it went back on there a week later......often things are not anywhere near as good as they SEEMED 20+ years ago lol!

Wow... I Soooo wanted one of these when I was younger (stingy parents!). Heat up.

I don't think they were anywhere near £100, or i'd never have had one!!
Still, £20 was expensive back then!

Yeah But does it come with the self tipping trailer?

well all I remember was wanting one of these and a teddy rucksbin (and Im certain that was £80-£100) but didnt get either as they were to expensive. (didn't have Nike's either - I had Gola....nooooooooooooo)

These will be great for teaching sequencing & control in my lessons...as well as giving me a blast from the past

fantastic!!!would love to have one, hot and reply added!!!!!!!

awesome i'll have to look in the parents loft as i think my old one is still in there somewhere along with its trailor attachment

I had one back in the day, with the trailor and I still remember the day when I came home from school and my dad had sold it to one of the neighbours for his kid as he though tI was bored of it....was just gutted.

also remember the advert that made me want it that Christmas...some little kid sending his dad through an apple from the kitchen....all I could do with mine was make it crash into a wall.

omg you've taken me right back with this post!!!! Love it!!!

I wish! I had Pumikidasbok from the market!

magic,

also, about five years ago, we got hold of a pick up truck from (I think) the early learning centre which had exactly the same instrument panel on the back, so the technology kept being used.

This is of course, better.

Hi nice item but get it from another shop as this lot well not that good

if this is like the Sound Asleep pillow that was not a Sound Asleep pillow then good luck with what they send you

scooter

Ooooooooo yes please. I remember these

Wow, sweet. Great in it's day, but bet it seems a bit lame now.

Fantastic, mind you they have put the price up from 1980, I'm sure mine was £32.50 !!!

40 quid!!! it better suck my d**k for that price too!!!

Was that comment strictly necessary?

Anybody who does have the earlier model(s) still boxed (at their parents' house, maybe) I would advise taking some photos & getting them on an auction site before it becomes (more) common knowledge that a revised version is being released later this year.

I was looking for one with a trailer a few years ago, and near-mint boxed examples were exchanging hands for over £100!

The Six Million Dollar Man "Steve Austin" boxed in the original rocket packaging was also quite popular at the time, as was the "Stretch Armstrong" toy.

OMG i totally loved my big trak and forgot all about it till i seen this ...blast to the past for sure. Memories coming flooding back of clearing the kitchen and laying on the floor programmin it to go so many paces forward left right back ....totally awesome! i want one now! lol

I'm guessing from your username, danny, that you may not be aware that the last time these toys were being manufactured you were probably learning to walk.

It would be near-impossible to find an "almost new" example now given they have been out of production for almost 30 years.

PS. [ bigtrakisback.com ]

[EDIT]:
"Bigtrak Jr" has a Recommended Retail Price of £29.99.

BFN,

I had one with the Trailor/Dump Tuck on the back - used for feeding my Old Man Apples! loved this for a few years, went to the big toy dump in the sky with all my Star Wars toys and my Simon.

Question is - do I live my wasted youth or be an adult and pay my bills on time? Hmmmmm

Went to the NEC n Biringham on Sunday for a trade show and seen these on quite a few stands but people didn't seem as interested in them as i thought they would be. The only other time i got to play with one was for about a minute, years ago at school on the last day of the year when you where allowed to take a toy in with you!
I played with it for a while and it was fun for a bit but can imagine you'd be bored of it after not too long but i'm sure it will still be good fun & also kinda educational for the kids!!

Oh yeah! It should be available from July, not August in fact and the acessories available the following year!!

If the product supported a wireless (bluetooth) interface that was controlled from a PC, or any suitable device (mobile telephone/iPod Touch, or even home video game entertainment systems/consoles such as a PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, or a PSP, etc) for instance, then it may introduce kids to programming a computer by creating logical steps to reach a desired goal like the "Logo" programming language used to be able to achieve using the "turtle graphics" syntax.

To create a square with sides of a size of 200 units you would use the following instructions, for example:

FORWARD 200
RIGHT 90
FORWARD 200
RIGHT 90
FORWARD 200
RIGHT 90
FORWARD 200
RIGHT 90

Maybe with some Government Education department backing we can see Bigtrak in classrooms (again) in the near future

You would have to be at least mid thirties to remember this bad boy. Now how about rereleasing other wonders of 1979, how about the Atari 400 & Atari 800 computers.
