I get punctures due to the thorns most of the time. If you are familiar with repairing inner tubes then you must have realised that puncture repair kits are best way to rip off cyclists! Recently I have found out a puncture repair kit from Wilkinsons which is 72p. Including 6 patches, glue, chalk, sand paper etc. Same kit is sold by CyclesUK under their name for £1.99.

Please note that this is in store.

Good price - but most now use self adhesive patches, which although more expensive are easier to use and instant.

No good for my 7 wheeler then.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tyres with the Kevlar band work pretty well, although hawthorn spikes will still get through sometimes. British Waterways do not help with their hedge cutting on the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath, just leaving debris everyhere

I have a kit from Poundland - contains a couple of spanners, valves and caps too.

Excellent. Just what I need thanks. :-D

Probably similar to the Tesco Value kits for about £1. Did the job nicely for me, although carrying a spare tube is an even easier option.

Is saying a spare tube just not accepting you got a spare tyre?

Fortunately on my journeys I don't regularly encounter hawthorn spikes, because I have never had a puncture since I installed Schwalbe Marathon pluses; I used to get a puncture every couple of weeks or so. It's not the Kevlar band that does it but the layer of foam which makes it simply impossible for anything under a certain size to puncture the tyre.

When i used to ride, the inner tubes were only about £1.99 in WIlkinsons. I just replaced them instead of repairing them, far easier

Please note that Tesco kit has only 3 pathes which makes them £2 for 6 patches (I used to buy them! and now they are £1.36 I think!)

Yes! Hedge cutting is killer... I get punctures in almost every ride in the woods... We ride in the nights and luckily tyre pressure survive until ride finishes!

I thought there were 4, but can't really remember properly. I only just got back into cycling recently, after a gap of about 25 years - all this new fangled technology is swamping me!

The self-adhesive patches do sound like a great step forward though, and this thread has given me some good tips on almost-puncture-proof tyres. I had loads of punctures last year - both tyres at once in one case.
