this. even the newer, more expensive, Sony readers are really inferior to the Kindle in terms of display. also, other ebook stores are just laughable compared to Amazon's - in terms of price and range.

and the Kindle's wifi means you've got free internet on the go and you can get tons of free content sent to you wherever you are in the world, without needing a pc.

in summary; Kindle, Kindle, Kindle, Kindle, Kindle.

I totally agree with the above.I recently purchased a Kindle and agonized for ages over which one to get.I chose the Kindle and it's brilliant.
It's all down to personal choice though and this is a great price so I've voted hot .

Does the kindle have a back light? I think i remember that being a problem when i was first looking about. The Sovos is selling for £72 at Play.I am so torn. The only down side with the Sovos is its got a slightly smaller screen but it does have a back light. I know it has many more functions than an ereader but i am more interested in the reading
Have you guys got any thoughts on this

Interesting read. Initially the reviewer was pleasantly surprised. I think i would have been a unhappy if i had paid £129. Thats nearly double the price on the deal! I wonder if the review would have been more favourable it it was £69.99.
Would you be able to find a similar review for the Sovos. It would be interesting to compare the Sovos to the Kindle.

No backlight on the Kindle

I thought so. I cant understand why they havnt got one. I read when i go to bed with a small lamp on. I wouldnt be able to do this with the Kindle. The Sovos is the only one that i can find with the back light.

bought this at xmas took it back rubbish would not open books i bought book online kept saying dcm copyright anyway bought the savos reader and is great download anything just drag book to book opens anything videos play great and tyou can play music while you read play.com/Ele…rch

Kindle does not need a back light it uses e-ink technology and looks just like a page from a book, if you want a light there are carry cases available that lock into the kindle and use power from the kindles supply. If you want an e-reader save up and get the kindle it is great.

you read at night with a small lamp on. ok. what's stopping you from using the same light with the Kindle? the display looks and reacts EXACTLY like text on a paper page. i think you perhaps need to do some more research on this...

you complain about the absence of a backlight. this isn't necessarily a bad thing. a backlight strains the eyes over a period of time. ambient light? not so much...

do paperbacks come with a backlight? if not then why would a kindle? the point of the kindle is that it REFLECTS light not emits it. that's why you get reduced eye strain compared to reading off a backlit device.

No backlight on the kindle is a feature not an omission.

Thats what i have had my eye on but i havnt been able to decide. I was hoping the prices were coming down soon on ereaders. I know the Sovos does more but quantity is not always better than quality. Both Kindle and Sovos have lovers and haters in equal measures.
