Just been into my local Aldi and grabbed the last pair of Binatone Action 950 2 way radios - ideal for taking on holiday to keep in touch when my eldest decides to wander off, and for when she's out playing at home.

Argos have exactly the same selling at double the price here

I realise this may be localised, but there may be some available near you.

I've not found a bad review of these either - seem to be decent for the price.

10km = near as dammit 6 miles. Tempting as I missed out on the Lidl ones, but £30 is a bit much for something I'd see as a bit of a toy. Hmm.

Great deal though, hot!

I thought that as I was just looking for something cheap, but for anything cheaper the range is worse and they are more like toys. The specs on this are genuinely good. I've had them working the mile and a half between my house and the town centre - clear and no degradation of signal. Lots of tall buildings too.

Any cold voters please explain

I have a set of the Lidl one's that have an 8km range which were £19.99 a couple of months ago, fantastic radios.

Another request for cold voters to say why - can you get these same model for less than I have found it??

Mobiles are so cheap these days I can't see why anyone would shell out 30 quid for these quality toys.

There are still places out of range of mobile transmitters - so good for walking etc in such areas. Also as OP says, may be good to keep in contact on holiday - although do double check the frequencies are allowed and no license is required in the country you intend to go to.

theres lots of stock available just call aldi customer services to check local stock, the units seem ok,price confirmed at 30 quid

whts the best range you guys are getting out of these? i cant get 4 miles out of them in a built up area but thats expected, anybody know a mod for these to increase their transmitting power? by the way a handy tip on these to get a 9th channel on these is to hold down up and down whilst you turn the unit on! to get out of the setting just turn it off and back on again. hope you find it useful!

my local aldi has the terain 200 at twice the price of the ones in Argos.
Where are the action 950's?
