didnt notice that. I am now taking a long walk off a short pier;-)

Looking for a sat nav for when I get my car as don't want to spend loads as will probably not get loads of use. Is this worthwhile purchasing or spending bitextra on another sat nav?

Might want to look at this as an alternative. New with 8 hours battery life £49.99

The software on these is rubbish. I swear it takes me the longest route every time.
BUT put Tomtom on it and you have a real satnav for the money

You're a star, thanks mate. Repped...

I might have to order another one now !

(BTW, it's much the same price on The Hut and Sendit if anyone wants one and has vouchers for either of those).

It's worth mentioning that the "downloads" section on that site is down for the moment, it appears that there are problems with the server which need to be sorted out.
Normally, once you have registered (free, and you don't get spam), you get access to the Downloads menu. Hope it's back soon!

Good price, but they are making up genders:

You guys are GODS! Thanks for posting OP and the code. Added Quidco as 10% c/b - though I know code may not be honoured. If it tracks, this works out at £33.25! Not bad for 1st ever SatNav purchase. Guess it could easily be eBayed if I get bored of it or a better HUKD comes along!

Quidco quotes 2 discounts (none of which worked for me on this order), dunno if already posted on here

Compatible vouchers

Only 2% Quidco (Electrical) btw.

If u have the iphone u can use this for less than a tenner hotukdeals.com/ite…one

Be aware, the downloads are broken.

You have to find alternatives.

Does anyone know if it is the mini USB connector it uses.

Also, after I install TT7 from the links previous, can it be updated and traffic subscriptions be added via tomtom home?? Or linking binitone running tt7 not going to work with tomtom home??

Probably not as there would be no updates viable through the various download sites/sources.

I may be wrong but peeps using these hacks would update through the official servers if it was possible??

Can anyone confirm with the TT download sources being down will I be able to put TT on this? If yes I will buy it!

THANKS!

Looks fairly simple from the simple site, stick TT on an sd card, put sd card in sat nav, turn sat nav on, follow on screen instructions.

Don't know how long Zavvi take to delivery, ordered mine Sunday night, got the despatch email same night ?? But I don't know how they send stuff. . .

I intend to put TT on it, so I hope it works as above !

I do wish they would sort out that discount bug - 'A discount code has already been applied to your basket.'?! Well which one, and why does it not actually reduce the price?! Grrr!

Anyone managed to find any TT7 downloads to use on this sat nav seeing that the links on the site are not avaliable

Cheers for that - trawled through my junk box and there it was

Funny that the order was not a problem for the filter but the dispatch was...

FYI - managed to install tomtom 7 on this with the link provided above. Download is not broken. But bear in mind you have to turn off antivirus during both downloading and the install process. If you do not, the file will not be downloaded properly and you will get error messages (as I did the first time round). Works a treat! bargain

Mine arrived about 3 hours ago and is still charging (why can't they supply a mains charger ?).

Any way, once it's done I'll be sticking TT on there. A real bargain for the price, shame their now out of stock, I could do with another !!

Well mine arrived this morning as well!

Luckily it uses the same charger as my phone but it was virtually fully charged when I turned it on anyway.

The screen is actually smaller than what I was expecting but can’t grumble for the price.

I too have the files but found the links broken at the time but they were available via a rapid place (oh how cryptic huh?) download link.

Will find out tonight if it all goes to plan!

What I find strange is that the place (house number) where I’m staying at right now (in Newport, Wales), cannot be found on any GPS I’ve used so far, even although the property must be at least 5~10 years old?

I just have to tell people to choose the mid point of the street.

On a different note – I assume that this device can be hacked to play DIVX files etc?

There was s/w on simplysatnav for multimedia. I've just gone to check but the site down for maintenance.

There a nice looking menu system as well to give easy access to the 'stuff' you can put on the sd card, that might be worth a look as well.

Can the OS that is on it now (Before I install tt7) be backed up so I can return back to it in case of problems with the device??

I'm sure there was something on simply to do that, but as the sites down. . .
#
Edit:

There a bit on the after dawn site about this (forums.afterdawn.com/thr…390). Seems to be saying all you need to do is sync the sat nav and (if I'm reading it right) just drag and drop everything in flash memory into a folder on your pc somewhere ?? Its for the A350, but they're almost the same.

I don't think you can crash the OS, it'll be in rom, but you can lose the inbuilt sat nav s/w.

Off the top of my head, I'm sure that if you can "explore" the device while added to your PC via USB as a drive then you would just copy and paste the complete contents to a folder on your PC?

Well I've transferred the files to my SD card and it just keeps loading the Binatone software so far for me...

Is the card being seen ? There are quite a few comments on the sat nav forums saying the units a bit picky about which card it'll recognise.

I'm not sure yet - I'll just have to find another SD card to see if it works any better....:whistling:

Also you have to format the card to fat 16, not 32 or NTFS...
