I'd rather not have my phone tied up by having it on the windscreen for 2/3 hours possibly using up my data allowance when I can use something that's designed for the job and does it better

I had a Binatone B430. Abysmal performance until I loaded TomTom mapping onto it. It was then ok, until it broke soon after the Warranty expired.

I have a standalone TomTom SatNav, which is far superior to the Binatone, yet not as good as the TomTom App in my Android phone, which gets a GPS fix much quicker than the standalone TomTom SatNav, & is generally more responsive & satisfying to use.

For people that own a smartphone, this deal is a waste of money. Download Navfree to the phone. No data charges in use, as the mapping is stored within the phone. As good as the TomTom App, yet free! Navfree site...

As for the video recording functionality, if you want a dashcam, buy a dashcam. The cheapest model worth buying is the £31 G1W ...

heat for deal but I am a android phone junkie !!! I use M8 from the Play store and find it works better than my standalone sat nav !

just got one for 39.99, there was a 10 pound discount code on Monday with the Hut, looks a nice bit of kit for the price, need it for the recording, 39.99 is a bargain

What's the £10 off code please?

If that's still a valid code I will add it to the info above.

The only one I could see was TEN30 - but not valid on electricals (likewise a 15% off code for new customers)
