Thank you Steve

When using a normal small bird feeder just glue a larger plastic pot tray, I use a 4" one below mine and any spillage go to any wood pigeons(hav'nt any in garden for last few weeks).Fed over a dozen sparrows today with bread (Discounted loaves)with margarine worked by hand to produce a mix which they love year after year to feed there young and themselves.
Been doing that for over 2 decades.

I have a ramekin type dish in the kitchen filled with bird seed. When I'm cooking and fat comes from the food I pour it into the dish.
When it's full I put it in the freezer for 24hrs and then dip the dish in boiling hot water. The fat/seeds comes out easily and I put it on the bird table. The birds love it. It stops fat going down the sink.

Just ordered, thanks very much. I would have voted hot but not hot or cold buttons available. Must be a fault on the site as it is letting me post this.

Great for getting to see tits in the garden

Ive heard they like cheese??? anyway just made them some fat balls which have held together well using old bread, bird seed, crushed peanuts, cheese and melted butter/ with a little olive oil.

Just hope i don't kill them with my recipe :P

why not add a bit of rat poison to the mix, so you can kill them even quicker.

isnt this only wildfowl like ducks geese etc ? I mean we as a nation have been feeding wild birds allsorts since the year dot ?Hope it isnt so but I never feed ducks etc bread I always buy their special food

Bread isn't natural. it shouldn't be fed to humans, let alone birds. Give them seed/mealworms instead. Never bread.
