I have one and its great for carpets - and for sucking up spills
I paid £45 brand new from Tesco just before Xmas

This is what i use - its perfect, not sure about the reconditioned though?

ive given it hot on cost it has 1 year warranty and most reconditioned items are as new

can anyone say how good they are i have a light cream carpet do they clean well in old stains or just fresh if caught early?

I almost bought one of these on Friday based on the ]reviews on Amazon, it sounds like a very good machine especially at £34!!!!!!
I ended up buying ]this one from Comet just so I could do the stair carpet and my car at some point.

If you vote this deal cold you must need your head testing. I've had a recon hoover from Bissell when I posted a deal for it some time ago now and it was like new. Do not let the recon side of things put you off as you still get a 12 month warranty anyway, you've got nothing to lose.

This is the hoover I bought yonks ago and it's still going strong! bisselldirect.co.uk/pro…026

Looks great for the price  although new (non-recon) ocasionally available ]under £52 delivered so not quite as large a saving as OP suggests.
Still a great deal though.

thats carpet cleaning sorted

Great machine , bought in November for £34 . Cleaned the carpets before Xmas & what looked like a clean carpet to us turned out to be heavily soiled , should have seen the colour of the water coming out !

Once cleaned & dried it looked like new .

Highly recommended .

Do you need to buy the Bissel cleaning fluid £16 or is there cheaper alternatives available?

does it come with any cleaning product?

original price is £56.90 not £88.00

can it be used as a normal vacumn cleaner?

thanks ordered.

Had our old one for years and I think it just smudges the dirty water around anymore! Have not bought reconditioned before... Will let you know how good it is!

H and R added x

I ordered one about 3 weeks ago - still no sign of it

When I contacted Bissell they gave no information except to say that they were 'out of stock' and would send out reconditioned machines as 'new stock' becomes available

...as there is no indication re. stock levels on the website, you're basically joining a queue to receive a machine when one is available - and they might be counting on receiving returns after xmas which they will then send out after reconditioning?

anyhow, not very good service so far... I'm waiting for reply to a second email, sent several days ago...

can this be used as a normal vacume leaner as well
thanx

As a professional carpet cleaner I have to say these don't do a particularly good job.

Yes, your carpet will look cleaner but the machine will leave a certain amount of residue in the carpet which will lead to more rapid resoiling and they only clean the top surface of the pile.

A rental machine or dare I say it, a professional clean will clean the carpets far more deeply and leave no residue! They'll also leave the carpet touch dry whereas the Bissell will leave 'em damp.

A word of warning: Do not use one of these machines on a woven/wilton carpet without taking advice as it could lead to shrinkage. On a tufted carpet you'll be fine however..

Depends what the spots are. A "stain" by definition penetrates the fibres and chemically reacts with it. Hence you will not remove a true "stain" with this machine.

However, if it's a "spot" then it *may* be removed with this machine, depending upon what it is. You'll need to spray the spot with "Carpet Spot Remover". Agitate it GENTLY with an old toothbrush or similar and allow a couple of minutes to "dwell".

Then, clean with your machine as per normal. If it comes out, great! If not, call a professional

Whatever you do use only cleaning chemicals recommended for carpets. DON'T be tempted to use any other types of cleaner. (Also, DON'T use the likes of 2001 on your carpet...)

Got one of their reconditioned vacuums when it was listed last year. Whilst it had a few minor superficial marks, it's been absolutely brilliant! My past experience of Bissell's has been good enough to know that this is a hotdeal and had to go for it. H&R added.

From my experience of buying reconditioned goods they are indistinguishable from new. Often the stock is new but called "reconditioned" so the seller does not upset existing purchasers or retailers and they can sometimes offer shorter warranties. Everyone is a winner and no-one is upset

this was listed late last year, i placed an order, but was sent a more expensive pet model.
the unit looked like new, and does a wonderfull job considering this isnt a professional unit.
highly recomended

Do share the info.

You can buy the cleaning fluid from idealworld.tv its £19.99 for 3 large bottles plus postage and its bissell stuff. Comes in 3 different flavours.

Excellent post!!!!!!!

I've been waffling for weeks about hiring a carpet cleaner to clean up some grubby marks on a couple of rugs!

This is virtually the same cost as hiring one for a weekend...so I got my finger out and just ordered one...BIG HEAT to the OP!!

........." 3 different FLAVOURS?????????????? " I guess you mean fragrances? ;-)

Can anyone who has actually bought one of these and used it comment on the performance of the cleaner versus a rotary brush cleaner.

The Quickwash seems to have a static brush, versus the belt driven brush on the more expensive models, and it would be useful to have more experienced feedback prior to placing an order.

My old Kirby G4 has just packed in, and I'm in the market for a new cleaner. My brother has the Bissel Powerwash Proheat and I've loaned it but it just smudged the muck around our cream carpet whereas the old Kirby used to revive the carpet, clean well and suck really well leaving the carpet as dry as anyone would expect from a vacuum cleaner.

Anyone?

Thanks OP, I have just ordered the reconditioned Power Wash Deluxe, a best buy by Which? in September '08 at £163. Now offered for £68.41 incl P&P reconditioned, £136.97 new. Both are shown as unavailable until mid-January, but no hurry. I'm afraid that the same Which? article specifically says to steer clear of the Quickwash lightweight cleaner as it struggled to clean the carpets on which it was tested, leaving them wetter than the best buys. All time winner was the AromaPro Upright cleaner (£195 new only).
