Great find, been looking at these for ages and that price a no brainer, ordered, cheers

Excellent post. Been after one of these for ages. Also got one for my dad for xmas. hot from me.

These must be the most frustrating tool I have ever owned...don't waste your money:oops:

have always been arounf £19.99 good deal for gadget

You're going to get loads of so-called experts telling you things such as 'buy cheap, buy twice' etc on this thread.

However, the fact remains that lots of hobbyist and DIY'ers (including myself) have one of these and find them more than adequate for their needs.

Voted hot.

Total gimmic, not worth the money at any price. Go out and buy a Bahco. By far the best out there and will serve you for years to come.

Go out and get Daddy a Wolly Jumper, When he wears it on Christmas day it will get more use outta it than the Black and Decker one!

"Go out and buy a Bahco"

Have you considered that the B&D one would be ideal for people with arthritis or disabled people ?

if their arthritis or disability is so bad that they can't screw the thread on a wrench then they sure as hell aren't going to be able to grip the tool well enough to use it properly anyway....

Your argument is nothing but a strawman.

It would be handy for undoing unknown sized sump plugs when lying down in the rain.

Other than that - I think decent kit is what to go for.

These companies must have teams of people dreaming up new products which no one needs. Still, if it serves your need to shed some loot 'cause it's Christmas..............

If you really want to treat someone to an adjustable spanner which is innovative and genuinely better than the original I thoroughly recommend this:

Voted hot because of this.

This was down as low as £8.99 on Friday. I picked it up earlier in the week for around £9.20ish. Amazon prices fluctuate a bit on this.

:whistling:

"I bought this for my husband who has a disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth, his muscles in his hands and legs are wasting away. He is delighted with it as he can still do a bit of D.I.Y"

"I bought this as my Husband is disabled and hasn`t got much strength in his grip it is an enormous help for me too as I have arthritis in my hands and wrists therefore making it hard for me to grip things"

"This was a present for my partner who is self employed but had an accident in 2008 and lost some of the use of his dominant right hand. This tool has enabled him to carry on working. A super present, a super buy"

Good value find, Bought one! Thanks.

You have to ask yourself why you would never see this item in any proper tradesman's/mechanics toolkit. The answer is because it's junk and only good for for rounding off nuts. If buying stuff that falls out of Christmas crackers is your thing or you if you want to impress all your mates with your new bob the builder skills and shiny wrench with motorised jaws then this is perfect.

I too would also recommend, like a previous poster said, something half decent but similar in cost, like a bahco.

[QUOTE=ibiza;6972423]It would be handy for undoing unknown sized sump plugs when lying down in the rain.

Don't do that; don't even use the Bahco version. An adjustable spanner is a botcher’s tool. Use a good ring spanner or socket. In the case of your sump plug, use a torque wrench to tighten it so that you don't damage the crush washer.

Love when electronics tries to overcome mechanical jobs.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.. I've never used it so I cant call this a gimmick or not... if they have a decent locking mechanism and a decent reliable high torque motor then its all good imo..

electronics overtaking mechanical applications are the way forward, until 2012......................................
