Just been in B&Q and saw this reduced from £60. Looking around the web it does seem to be typically £65 though Argos have it on offer too at the moment for £38 (down from £50) so £29 is a bargain,

Anyway, I bought one and for the price it's perfect. The Christmas tree is now in tiny pieces and it took 10 minutes and no effort. Full B&Q blurb is below.

The KS890ECN 400w Scorpion® powered handsaw from Black & Decker® cuts time and cuts effort. The multifunctional Scorpion® has both powered handsaw and jigsaw modes making it perfect for straight line or curved cuts. Fingertip variable speed control for safe and accurate cutting and tool-free push button blade change system for hassle free DIY. Capable of cutting wood, metal and plastic, the Scorpion is incredibly versatile. 3 saw blades included.

I got one of these a few years ago and it has paid for itself. I paid £25 and got a hand mouse aswell (Argos) but still worth the money

Got one, worth the money. Voted hot.

yup i agree, use mine a lot

Anyone found a cheap replacement blade for these?

I have had one of these for years and have used it for allsorts. Only bad thing about them is blades are quite expencive. £17 for a set of three.

Voted hot - I've had one for a while and they're great

Voted Hot! Just what i need for some vertical cutting on 3x3

This are brilliant I have one.

i have one also and the uses its had has been a real saving, had to buy a new blade in the end but they last well.

The description says cordless, which i presume is a mistake because it also says that is comes with 3m of cable. I bought a cordless one last year and it is pretty rubbish. I have also had the corded type and it was pretty good but i've found that eventually a pin inside snaped rendering it useless. I see, however, that is comes with a 2 year guarantee, so I don't think you can go wrong at the price.

ill stick with a hand saw....cant see how much use id get from this, other than cutting branches

Just found it at ebay for £30.00 with free delivery for anyone who doesn't live near a B & Q

That's a different model - KS890EC as opposed to KS890ECN. The trailing 'N' appears to mean 'New' as they are shown separately on the Black & Decker webpage. The specs seem the same though so I presume any improvement is relatively minor.

Saw this deal instore the other day when I was looking for a jigsaw, I think they might have had an offer on the blades as well.

It's mains - 1 of the 5 pictures on the B&Q site clearly shows a different product.

I'm sure it is mains, but just to confuse things, the specs say cordless!
Think B&Q need to get their act together...:(

how quickly do the blades go blunt, been trying to extract a tree stump but chain saw keeps going blunt due to contact with soil!

I normally use a mattock when removing stumps. Good for chopping through roots and levering up the stump.

Ok thanks everyone !
