Hi,

I have just bought a Sony PSP 3000 with FIFA 09 for £127.20 in Sainsburys.

The next cheapest that i've seen is £129.99 with a free game, one of the cheap games, at Argos. The one in Argos is one of the coloured ones but I wanted one of the black ones and for that they charge £149.

The price on the shelf was £129.99 but they took the VAT off at the til so it ended up at £127.20.

I can't see this online so I guess it's just instore.

I hope this helps.

The main difference is the screen but it also has a microphone and a better case. Not sure on other differences.

The PSP3000 has unbeaten protection from installing custom firmware and running homebrew, or backing up your stupid UMD disks to your stick so that you can play them without the UMD drive sucking the power out of your psp and giving long loading times. Of course you can buy a lot of retail games as a download from PSN instead of buying the UMD, but you pay the full RRP (or more) for them. If the PSP2 has no UMD drive I hope I'll get the chance to swap my UMD disks for downloadable copies.
The PSP3000 also has a newer screen that I think is great but some people complain about artefacts in some games.

During the Woolworths closing down sale I picked the 3000 bundled with a game I didn't like in preference to the 2000 (and a 'better' game) and I regret it.

I'd advise to get a 2000 for only £75 from buyItHere.com]the deal is marked as expired, but they have more in now.

Whichever one you get, I'd also advise to get a cheap counterfeit 8GB Pro Duo card from DealExtreme (~$15).

Thanks Southwell & NormanCod!

I've heard there is judder or jittery graphics on the 3000 when playing some games. Is this true?

Not sure how they could improve the screen as it was a very, very good picture to begin with.

I've compared a 2000 and a 3000 and the difference is very slight. My advice would be to stick with a 2000 for now and use the saving to max out on memory from using this-

The 3000 screen is excellent - the dpi looks lower than the DS and my iPod Classic (or maybe it is just that you can see black between the dots). I haven't seen any jitterery graphics but maybe the artefact is limited to a few games; AFAIK it looks bad only when the graphics use a technique that shows up as a smooth blur on the 2000 but looks odd on the 3000.
