Boasting HD Graphics and an innovative controller, the Nintendo Wii U is about to change the way you play games!

Experience a new style of gameplay through the Nintendo Wii U and Wii U GamePad, which features not only the standard buttons found on most controllers, but also a 6.2 inch LCD Touch Screen that enables you to interact with the game in entirely new ways.

Game developers have been enthusiastic about the potential of the Wii U controller and what they’ll be able to use it for in future games. In some games it may just feature a map, in others it could be your HUD, but already games are showing the ingenuity of the developers.

In Rayman Legends, players use the Wii Remote Plus to navigate the levels, but with an additional player using the Wii U Gamepad, you’ll take control of another character that’ll be able to manipulate areas of the level, easing the journey for those running through on the big screen.

In Just Dance 4, you can use the Wii U Gamepad as a screen so that someone else can watch TV whilst you’re dancing away in another room or whilst everyone else is dancing in front of the TV, you can dictate which dance moves they’ll be doing next.

If you’ve got a great selection of Nintendo Wii software and peripherals, then you’ll be pleased to hear the Nintendo Wii U is Backwards compatible with most Wii Software and Accessories.

Size: Approximately 1.8 inches tall, 6.8 inches wide and 10.5 inches long.
New Controller: The new controller incorporates a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen and traditional button controls, including two analog Circle Pads. This combination removes the traditional barriers between games, players and the TV by creating a second window into the video game world. The rechargeable controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, rumble feature, camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus.
Other Controls: Up to four Wii Remote (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once. The new console supports all Wii controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk controller, Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro and Wii Balance Board.
Media: A single self-loading media bay will play 12-centimeter proprietary high-density optical discs for the new console, as well as 12-centimeter Wii optical discs.
Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite.
Audio Output: Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.
Storage: The console will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive.
CPU: IBM Power-based multi-core microprocessor.
Other: Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with most Wii games and Wii accessories.

Mario Kart 8

Turn Your Racing Experience Upside Down!

For the first time in HD, Nintendo’s Mario Kart franchise comes to the Wii U console, introducing new racing circuit designs and antigravity karts that will have players driving upside down. Players will also enjoy a variety of series-favorite features, including the return of 12-player online competitive play, hang-gliders, underwater racing and motorbikes.

Mario Kart 8 Features:
The new antigravity feature allows for never-imagined racing circuit designs. Players will speed through courses and find themselves suddenly racing on walls in a haunted mansion or upside-down over Princess Peach’s Castle as their wheels automatically rotate and shift into antigravity gear.
Mario Kart TV lets players share highlight videos they submitted to Miiverse.
Experience a wealth of features that span the series, including 12-player online competitive play. Elements first introduced in Mario Kart 7, such as hang gliders and underwater racing, along with elements introduced in Mario Kart Wii, such as motorbikes and performing tricks in midair, also make their return.
Fan-favorites Waluigi and Toadette re-join the cast of familiar characters from the Mushroom Kingdom.
Crisp HD graphics and a 60-frames-per-second frame rate offer players the most visually stunning entry in the series yet.

Be loads cheap soon Nintendo stopped making them yesterday....

Why the cold votes? Anyone care to comment or provide link to cheaper alternative than this Game store deal? Thanks and kind regards

It will be cheaper come Black Friday looming

Original Poster

Exactly, Nintendo ceased production hence the clearance price. This is probably as cheap as it's going to get..

Gonna have to vote cold I'm afraid... The Wii U has some fun and unique games but it is losing support - production is soon coming to an end. You can pick up an Xbox One or PS4 for under £200, both of which are going to be supported for many more years to come

I find that highly unlikely.

The new Nintendo Switch is released in March. Why bother buying this??

It's a great console and there are lots of great games.
But this is over priced considering its a few years old and being replaced next year

Original Poster

I believe the new Nintendo switch is targeted at a different audience i.e. Teenagers and 20 somethings, I have kids 3-6 yrs old who the Wii U is more suited to them. Also isn't this community about deals in the current time? The price of this may or may not come down during Black Friday, but today there is no cheaper deal than this, so I respectfully disagree with other comments, thanks and kind regards.

The Wii U is more powerful, has some great games and is a great family console for all ages.
The new Switch console is totally different in concept and design.
Plus the Wii U plays all of the Wii games and uses the same accessories.
So there is a massive games library available.
But this offer should be Sub £200 for it to be good value.

coughs...hard drive...coughs 'games'. havent checked up into it thoroughly but it is supposedly modifiable like the Wii was to run homebrew (the last thing I had homebrew on was the psp and most of the old emulators I was interested in runs on android phones these days with no modding needed. Would still wait for it to be cheaper or reccomend a xbox/playstation instead.

Disagree. The Wii U will have many more games produced for the next couple of years. And has a vast array of current games.
And the PS4 and XBONE will be replaced in 12-18 months.

I'm a massive Nintendo fan, but wouldn't be able to recommend this for all the reasons listed above. You've got XBox Ones selling for £180. Production is ending. It will be cheaper, second hand units even more so. And even if you love the unique style of Nintendo games, they will be coming to the Switch in a matter of months.

I'm afraid this isn't "Cheapest-at-the-moment UK deals", it's "Hot UK Deals", and this isn't a hot deal.

We bought a wiiU last Christmas and this is a good price so heat added. Yes the Switch is due, but if you have younger kids and want a family console you can't do much better than this. Lots of games aimed at a younger market, yet a good laugh for us oldies. The Select games are reasonably priced and because it plays Wii games you can pick up loads of older titles cheaply.

ICTHUS

The Wii U is more powerful...

Not sure this will turn out to be true.

considering the switch has been announced and is due out arround march next year, I want the Wii U to go down to arround the £150 mark,

The one good thing is that it's security has been busted wide open, the wii scene is on fire right now, homebrew and game loaders..

Nope, Ps4/xbox wont be replaced, that is the whole point of ps4 pro/xbox unreleased so tat graphics can be changed to higher standards like on a pc. By the time they make games that use the full capaccity/only run on ps4 pro/xbox 'scorpio' it will take at least 3 years and only be possible by the biggest companies (Konami Metal gears, 343's Halo etc).
It is easy and lazier for companies to port games, the days of Jurassic park is completely different on the megadrive to the snes is over (dunno if my example is a valid one off top of my head). People are questioning if games that are in development/kickstarted offering Wii U options will still be valid, and bloodstained even had hopes of sharing a compatible unreal engine with other developers to get more games out on the Wii U -which not even 1 major company bothered to do -Nintendo included! (which a lot of the xbox/sony titles run on)

Wouldn't spend that much on a Wii

Thanks, someone who understands the target market of the existing console and the target market of the new console. How many small kids did you see in the Switch trailer? Exactly!

As a 20 something myself it looks cool and would probably buy for the wife and I, but my priority is my 3 and 6 yr old who would much prefer a Wii U which is aimed at them. Anyone disagree? Thanks and kind regards.

Its cheaper here Link

There is still some life left in the Wii U,

Not sure about the price or the links to £5 cheaper, do you trust Shopto.net anyway or prefer a high street retailer!

Nintendo marketing department has a lot to answer for!

The price of the Switch at launch will make or break it, have they learnt their lesson?

I sold my Xbox to buy a Wii u, and me and the family get much more use from it. horses for courses... but I wouldn't pay this much, I'd wait...

The important word being 'deals'. Products at standard prices are not deals, there is nothing noteworthy about this price.

Wow, what a fanboy comment! "Many more games"??!! From who exactly? You'll be able to count on one hand the first party titles that come to wii u over the next couple of years and third party support is pitiful. I sold my wii u a loooong time ago. Meanwhile ps4 and xbox are thriving and some months have more games released than the wii u gets in a year!

PS4 and xbox will be "replaced"? Scorpio is due in a year and will play everything the xbone does (including the backwards compatible titles). We won't see a PS5 for 2 years and I'd be very surprised if ps4 wasn't forwards compatible too.

So what amazing fanboy nonsense, making out the wii u will continue to get fantastic support and the other two manufacturers (with approx 70 million consoles sold combined) are declining. oO

Mmmm its been discontinued and the new console is out in march, this really should of been £100 by now, ok its had poor sales but a price drop would of help greatly sales wise. don't get we wrong its a great console with some amazing games but it should of had a price drop, but its typical nintendo, fantastic games but dreadful business decisions

Can only think that the OP works for Game and is here to try and help offload their remaining stock by trying to make use believe that this is a bargain. Unfortunately for them, the HUKD community, in general, is slightly more clued up about it.........especially when it comes to "deals" from Game

never a deal at 234 come on. was 199 aggggeeeesss ago and with switch on the way whats the point. save your cash for switch or wait until jan when this is cheap as

whilst this isn't a deal, I don't understand why people keep saying "with the switch coming, what's the point?"

the point is, if you want to play wii u games, this is the only way to do it.

wii u has a cracking library. great fun console. which is going to its end. shame really.

Not a hot deal and not even the cheapest available. I love my Wii U, but would suggest anyone interested waits for Black Friday. We could see the magic £150 mark by then. If not, these prices will be readily available after that date anyway.

Doesn't work like that here buddy.

Thanks for all the advice about the Wii U discontinuing and to go for a PS4 or Xbox instead.

But can I just check before I go, how many of the following games can I play on PS4 and/or Xbox?

Think the advice was to go for the Switch. And on which you'll definitely be able to play your first and last examples.

There are some good value XBox/PS deals at the moment for thr older models, but is a different market really and shouldn't be compared.

The reason it's cold? The NS is going to be released in a few months' time and well, it's overpriced.

For about another £70 or more one will be able to own the new Nintendo console whereas the Wii U, as good of a console it is, the Wii U is almost dead with of course -- Nintendo's life-support hence they're still going to release Zelda:BotW on it (thank god! I'm looking forward to the Wii U version).
