This deluxe edition includes fantastic digitally remastered episodes plus a whole host of special features, many of which are completely exclusive to DVD.

Like a skidmark through history the Edmund Blackadders left an indelible dirty stain on every era they passed through. No one knows where the notorious Blackadder family originated from - some say the shallow end of the gene pool, others just nod and point to the cess-pit behind the pig-sheds.

Every new era produces a more contemptuous Edmund Blackadder, each incarnation bearing a striking resemblance to the last, carrying forward the family traditions of cowardice, treachery and political corruption. Accompanying each generation of Edmund Blackadders is the 'Baldrick' family, a loyal breed of human pack-animal and the byword for all things stupid.

Doubt it. It's the exact same one (different cover shown at CdWow) only slightly more expensive and no Quidco at CdWow

Fair enough - I said might be as it gave info (ie 7 discs - whereas Zavvi gives no info).

Yeah, I did scratch my old and confused head about the 7 discs. As far as I can tell, every other website says 6 discs. But the CD Wow one is the same Boxset as everywhere else but says 7 discs.

Perhaps if someone already owns this they could let us know if it is 6 or 7 discs

it's 7 discs, only difference is this one includes Blackadder - The Annoying Troll

um.....really sorry but.....I'm not actually sure how many discs it has. I thought that by putting "the annoying troll" in my post, it would be obvious that I was joking....

now I feel a bit silly

Has the 'remastered' quality been worth the wait?

Apparently not, if there is an improvement in picture quality it's not much of a step up over the last box set's release and that was shockingly bad!

Wait for the Bluray

I've got it and it's 6 discs, plenty of comments about it on ]Amazon.co.uk for any further info.

I think CDWOW have simply made a mistake with there info, that cover they are displaying was a temporary cover that most retailers were using before the actual release.

Also if you use ]Find-DVD you will notice that all retailers except CDWOW have the correct info.

Can't see how there's much scope for remastering. The original recordings are probably composite video on 1" tape as was standard of the era.

The film stuff (if still in existance) could be rescanned and cleaned but then it would show up the deficiency of the video even more

Best you could do would be to re-edit from the original studio tapes saving a generation of analogue tape and then capture it into a decent bit of modern kit and repair certain aspects. You ain't never going to stop it being from a composite source though.

As hot as a red hot chilli pepper on a bonfire in the Sahara Desert

I bought this for £26 back when it was released. The show doesn't look amazing but its much better than the older sets. Worth it in my opinion.
