Tesco have got some intersting DVD and CD prices in their latest sale. This one stood out for me when I called in to my local store in Batley, W Yorks. Delivery is £1.29 if you can't get to a store.

Synopsis: Throughout the ages, men of finesse, intelligence and outstanding courage have played their part in England`s glorious heritage. Others, like the long line of deceitful, cowardly and conniving Blackadders have somehow emerged to claim their wrongful position in history.

This is the story of how, destined to have fortune vomit on his eiderdown and to be forever shackled with a Baldrick (the descendent of an unfortunate meeting between a pig-farmer & bearded lady), Blackadder faced down the slings and arrows of life...and got very badly hurt indeed.

You just cannot go wrong with this series!!!!
Rather saucy lil' price by the way Stu....
(Repped & Heated)
Quidco track @ 3% for anyone that remembers.

£3 cheaper than my daughter paid for it from Asda in-store just before Christmas and that was a good price at the time.

Love it and never tire of it Thanks for the pointer!

Will this be the same price as it would be in an actual store?

(Basically I wanna grab one on my drive home, and can't be bothered to wait/pay for delivery)

Original Poster

The price in my local store is £24.97 (Batley West Yorkshire)...so that's the price you pay. If you can't get to a store there's a small online charge for delivery as mentioned above.

Good deal. For anyone who posted in the Two Pints of Lager thread, this is what a sitcom should be like.

2 Pints is not so terrible but having had to point out that there is NO COMPARISON between it & Fawlty Towers (on the 2 pints thread) the same has to be said about the difference between Blackadder & most of the 'comedy' series that have followed. There are some shows that will ALWAYS be regarded as classics -Steptoe, Porridge, Fawlty Towers & Blackadder to name a few (UK productions) & those that, no matter how big their following or how popular they are, you just CANNOT see being revered in the same way in years to come!

I think the Christmas Carol is cut in this box set.

I think the Christmas Carol is cut in this box set.

Listed in post #8 as 'included'...if it's a cut or edited version could you list/post how thanks?!?!

I have the box set and would be interested to know what's been cut from that version, as I didn't notice anything different myself. Thanks

Thanks for looking this out Rustybucket.
(Rather than getting cryptic about it,) is this what you're talking about....

"There is an edit towards the beginning of the episode, after Baldrick talks about the dog in the Nativity play. Blackadder asks him "Weren't the children upset?" and Baldrick responds "Nah, they loved it. They want us to do another one at Easter. They want to see us nail up the dog." Most of this line is cut from video and DVD releases, but it is still present when transmitted on television."

If this is the only difference, I reckon most of us could PROBABLY manage without, but IS this the difference & is it on the other version, despite the Wikipedia quote saying it's cut from video & DVD releases????

Yeah Thanks for the info I never missed that part, but I will the next time I watch it lol

As for "It is a triumph for stupidity over common sense", I think we've both come accross a few posts & threads that could use that title!!!

Yeah lol Some really good quotes in there, think I'll have to drag my box set out and start watching them all over again  That's when I get my "Baldrick's Holiday"
