Can't see any reason for buying this over any other phone. For me, BlackBerry was always about the keyboard therefore it has to be the PRIV or KeyONE. Shame they were about 2-3 years late to the Android party..
This currently one of the best Android phones available, it is the most secure Android phone, gets regular security updates and has outstanding built quality. Blackberrys version on Android is the most stable and well thought out to date, Yes its not on the latest version but its still far better than any newer versions. Seriously try this out, you will not be disappointed.

very well said
Does the DTEK60 have stereo speakers like the DTEK50/Alcatel Idol 4? If it does then this phone will be amazing for multimedia. I have an Alcatel Idol 4 and it's a really nice phone - shame I smashed it

Yes its based on the Alcatel Idol 4S. Technically its also the same phone as the Vodafone Smart Platinum 7, which cex sell for around £130-£160.

Very similar but some different parts, mainly the Voda Platinum 7 having a Snapdragon 652 and 3GB of RAM where as the Blackberry Dtek60 has a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM. Also it has a 16 m camera compared to 21. But despite all of that the main selling point really is the Software, Blackberry have shown their experience an expertise when it comes to this, its the combination of many small features that come together to create an excellent user experience (sound like some sales speech i know) but its true. Before this I was contemplating going over to the dark side (Apple) but this changed my mind.

Interested to know if Blackberry line of phones would be receiving future OS upgrades as quick as other manufacturers like Google, Lenovo, Motorola role out to their devices?

One of the things BlackBerry is good at is quick updates and also supporting older devices too. My KeyONE is at Android patch level 5th July 2017, which I think is pretty good as it is the latest one. It's on 7.1.1 still but that's not a problem.
Seems like a good price for a good spec'd phone. I was tempted until I read some users complaining screen cracks very easily. Shame they are not using Corning Gorilla glass on this phone
Blackberry should have kept the hdmi it's the only reason I've got a z10. Android is poor compared to BBOS unfortunately there's no apps but I used this to watch films over hdmi at a friends house with no wifi I'll get a z30

I wouldn't expect it for this - the DTEK50 and 60 were the last two phones they made (production outsourced to TCL) before they exited hardware and moved to licensing out their IP to various other companies to use.

Your Keyone isn't made by Blackberry - it's made by TCL who licensed the IP for the west when Blackberry exited hardware. I wouldn't use the update schedule for that as a guide for how the Dtek50 and 60 will be updated.

(TCL were the ones who made the dtek50 and dtek 60 as contractors before they took over the IP).

Why are you telling me this as if we don't all already know? It's still engineered and designed by them and doesn't change the fact. As something branded BlackBerry it should be treated the same as any other no matter who actually built it.

Sadly its not the same - the DTEK50 and 60 are orphans left over from BBRY were still in hardware and sold their own phones. Now that they are simply licensing out the IP, the chances of OS (rather than security) updates on either are near zero.

I'm confused. What are you saying? The DTEK50 and 60 are made by Alcatel/TCL, they're basically the Idol 4 and Idol 4S. The KeyONE was engineered by BlackBerry but built by TCL.

The dtek50 and 60 were made for BBRY by TCL - your legal relation is with BBRY.

The Keyone was made by TCL (using a leftover BBRY design) for TCL (trading as Blackberry mobile) - your legal relationship is with TCL.

The keyone will get OS updates because TCL is actively trying to sell phones and grown a mobile business.

The Dtek50 and 60 will not get OS updates because BBRY has left hardware and there is no benefit to them to provide updates, they are orphan phones.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that TCL as well as being the current licencee for most of the world was also the ODM who built the last few for Blackberry themselves.
