Both are good. Waiting for both to come down

Maybe I shouldn't admit this on here but I'm not a huge fan of the first one. I really like the second one though.
Ignore the haters, this film is a piece of art.

What a waste of time - saw it on the day it came out & I haven’t ever been so bored with a storyline or disappointed by the cinematography of a movie as I was with this.

Ok I could probably comprehend the storyline comment but to bash the cinematography ... that’s simply outrageous.

The deserted casino scene visual was great. The whole dystopian society was on the mark.

The only other movie to come close to having great cinematography would be Mad Max Fury Road & Inception.

I certainly didn’t know expect the second one to be as good as it was.

The first one too a while for me to like.

Everybody has opinions, few films everybody seems to love and I just cant get away with them. Blade Runner is one of my favourite films though, hate to imagine how many times I've seen it and even managed to see it at the cinema the day before this new one was released. Well ahead of it's time for the visuals and effects
Great movie by a great director

I love both. Blade Runner is my second favourite sci-fi film, after 2001: a Space Odyssey, and I have watched 2049 many times. Stunning cinematography, Atmos audio mix and perfect sequel.

I don't get on with a certain 'cinematic universe' but I don't like expressing such an opinion on a public forum as, last time I did, all hell broke loose. When I told a family member I actually fell asleep during 'a never ending war', I really think he wanted to hit me! I fear I've said too much.

the first film is great, but this wasn't good at all.
but it's a great price for UHD release.

Each to their own, I think they're both great films and like a previous comment above it took a while and a few viewings for me to really appreciate the first one.

What is it about the cinematography that disappointed you?
Ana de Armas 🔥🔥🔥

I'd be curious to know myself. I thought Roger Deakins got it perfect, as did the academy who don't care for sci-fi. Even people I know, who didn't think very much of the film, thought the cinematography was exceptional. Must have saw it on a dodgy cam video from a torrent site.

I thought the film was over stylised, lacked colour and was pretentious - the original was gritty & atmospheric. 2049 was way too long & contrived.

Oh yes - by the way, I saw it fully legally in a Vue cinema. I do not appreciate comments that suggest otherwise...
I thought this version was as tragic a waste of money as Tron Legacy! And that's saying something.

Fair enough, everyone has different views on everything in life. I have never seen anyone diss the cinematography before so my final comment was tongue in cheek, for a viewpoint that is against the general concensus (as is mine on MCU films).

I actually thought the first one was quite pretentious and, villain aside, had extremely poorly developed characters. The concept and the philosophical questions raised were somewhat interesting but I don't think it was executed very well at all. It's quite rare for me to lose interest in a critically acclaimed film but I found it to drag on forever. I've yet to see the sequel but if it's how you say it is then perhaps there's no point...
Maybe it's an age issue. I was 16 when this film came out. Imagine seeing it in 70mm in Leicester square at that age. And that's probably why I think all the new Star Wars are mainly miss-fires.

I bought a freddo for 20p the other day, and it had dropped to 15p the next. I went back to the store with the wrapper, and asked the cashier to refund 5p, due to the price drop. He said no, so I told him you are breaking UK law, as I can return anything within 14 days, for any reason. He doesn’t care. If I must buy, I will buy from Amazon in the future. Otherwise I’ll be renting from Rakuten.

Me too, me too - I’ll never forget seeing Star Wars when it came out... the opening few minutes and the sense of scale & awe... Amazing!
Luddite that I am, I prefer my media as hard copy whenever I can. Those poor souls that had everything on their Sainsburys digital platform lost their entire collection of films when the service went belly up.
This is a great film for surround sound systems! Blows your head off!

Even if they do it won’t be in the next 10-20 years most likely, and by then there will be a new physical media anyway so you haven’t lost out even if you loose the collection 20 years down the line.

edit: forgot to say... Heat

Fascinating to read opinions like this. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I try to think about how someone might feel that way but I am struggling here.

I thought this film was not only beautiful, but very delicately struck the perfect line between being an extension of the first film and being a great standalone film in its own right. I thought it was absolutely fantastic.
Smoking!
For me, this is the best movie I’ve seen past 20 years. The day I saw it in the cinema, I search online for pre-orders of the 4K steelbook. Big fan of the first.
This movie is class.. I prefer it to the original..

I couldn’t agree more. Found the first one a bit boring tbh. I also think that Ridley Scott is one of the most overrated filmmakers working today. Absurdly so!
