Product description
In celebration of Blade Runner's 25th anniversary, director Ridley Scott has gone back into post production to create the long-awaited definitive new version. Blade Runner: The Final Cut, spectacularly restored and remastered from original elements and scanned at 4K resolution, will contain never-before-seen added/extended scenes, added lines, new and improved special effects, director and filmmaker commentary, an all-new 5.1 Dolby® Digital audio track and more. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy, Sean Young, and Daryl Hannah are among some 80 stars, filmmakers and others who participate in the extensive bonus features. Among the bonus material highlights is Dangerous Days, a brand new, three-and-a-half-hour documentary by award-winning DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, with an extensive look into every aspect of the film: its literary genesis, its challenging production and its controversial legacy. The definitive documentary to accompany the definitive film version.

Disc One
RIDLEY SCOTT'S ALL-NEW "FINAL CUT" VERSION OF THE FILM
Restored and remastered with added & extended scenes, added lines, new and cleaner special effects and all new 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio. Also includes:

Commentary by Ridley Scott
Commentary by executive producer/co-screenwriter Hampton Fancher and co-screenwriter David Peoples; producer Michael Deely and production executive Katherine Haber
Commentary by visual futurist Syd Mead; production designer Lawrence G. Paull, art director David L. Snyder and special photographic effects supervisors Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich and David Dryer
Disc Two
DOCUMENTARY DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING BLADE RUNNER
A feature-length authoritative documentary revealing all the elements that shaped this hugely influential cinema landmark. Cast, crew, critics and colleagues give a behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at the film -- from its literary roots and inception through casting, production, visuals and special effects to its controversial legacy and place in Hollywood history.

Disc Three
1982 THEATRICAL VERSION
This is the version that introduced U.S. movie-going audiences to a revolutionary film with a new and excitingly provocative vision of the near-future. It contains Deckard/Harrison Ford's character narration and has Deckard and Rachel's (Sean Young) "happy ending" escape scene.

1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSION
Also used on U.S. home video, laserdisc and cable releases up to 1992. This version is not rated, and contains some extended action scenes in contrast to the Theatrical Version.

1992 DIRECTOR'S CUT
The Director's Cut omits Deckard's voiceover narration and removes the "happy ending" finale. It adds the famously-controversial "unicorn" sequence, a vision that Deckard has which suggests that he, too, may be a replicant.

Disc Four
BONUS DISC - "Enhancement Archive": 90 minutes of deleted footage and rare or never-before-seen items in featurettes and galleries that cover the film's amazing history, production teams, special effects, impact on society, promotional trailers, TV spots, and much more.

Disc Five
WORKPRINT VERSION
This rare version of the film is considered by some to be the most radically different of all the Blade Runner cuts. It includes an altered opening scene, no Deckard narration until the final scenes, no "unicorn" sequence, no Deckard/Rachel "happy ending," altered lines between Batty (Rutger Hauer) and his creator Tyrell (Joe Turkell), alternate music and much more. Also includes:

Commentary by Paul M. Sammon, author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner
Featurette "All Our Variant Futures: From Workprint to Final Cut"

Shame its not region free like the hd dvd version.

Edit: Seems it is region free after all.

It is region free. Be gone with your scare-mongering.

I thought they had region coding on them??

I own it. It is entirely region free. Including the DVD disks in the set.
Many bluray discs are region free.

Brilliant deal. I payed £17.98 delivered from Amazon US about a month ago.

I have the 5 Disc collectors edition on Bluray - I bought it at the beginning of the year.
It plays absolutely fine here on my UK PS3.
Take a look at this link:

dvdworldusa.com/bdr…asp

Gives you a good indication of what is and isn't region encoded.

Generally the region coded BluRays are new releases, older (catalogue) releases are usually region free. A number of websites list which releases are region free and which are not, such as ]http//ww…php

Some studios such as Disney region code all their releases however, in order to control when they are being sold, since their sales strategy (through VHS and DVD at least) seems to be to release films for a few months every couple of years, in order to keep the prices high.

One of the greatest ever DVD packaging. Great deal voted hot. Can confirm it is Region Free.

voted hot-hot-hot! seems to be sold out everywhere in the UK.

It comes with the dvd versions too?

Awesome stuff! I own it and it's completely region free and absolutely stunning in High Def!

Fantastic set - I paid about £18 from there a few months ago - well worth it - this film looks AMAZING on Blu Ray! Commentary is great too - haven't had time to look at all the extra features yet though......

Two of the five discs in the set are DVD, not Bluray. These discs contain the Making of documentary and the Enhancement archive.

So the set does contain some Standard definition material, but still the definitive edition for Blade Runner fans.

Do Amazon US do a price refund scheme whereby they refund you if the price goes down on goods you purchase within 30 days?

If you own a Blu-ray player, you MUST buy this, simple as that...

Discs 2 & 4 (documentaries & featurettes) are on DVD.
Discs 1, 3, & 5 are on blu rays & have all 5 versions of the film in 1080p.

UK version only has 2 discs (Disc 1 & 2 from this set) & is more expensive than this 5 disc version.

thats an amazing blade runner overload on blu ray too

hot deal, when someone posted the £5 deal for the blu-ray 2 disc version last week, I commented it was a shame that the 5 disc version was not released here. Didn't consider using amazon US! Never seen so many extras for one movie!

Wicked stuff - ordered + HEEEEEEEEAT!!

The US get such better deals than us!!

good deal, thanks for letting us know! heat added

been meaning to buy this for ages...nice one....heat added!

I also got this when it was £17.68 from amazon.com last month, and it was a great deal then so £13 is a steal

Hot stuff:thumbsup:

Excellent price!

HOT!

Fantastic Price - ordered - many thanks

Couldn't resist and ordered one, great bargain!
Thanks to OP and voted hot.

Now all I need is to buy a PS3 and a HDTV to go with it! lol

note you will have to pay customs duty, its import vat/tax you dont pay, but usually i dont pay when importing stuff, but some of my friends do.

If you purchase goods through the Internet you should be aware that customs duty and VAT will be payable, as follows:

Customs duty - if the amount of duty is £7 and over.
Import VAT - if the value of the goods is £18 and over.

As long as you keep the value under £18 you don't have to pay no customs duty or import tax.

Heavertron, yes they do offer the refund as I have done this in the past.

May I also add I purchased the 5 disc HD-DVD version of Blade Runner on sunday, sorry I had to put that in.

:whistling:

I didn't want to mention it but it was cheaper than this when I got my US 5 disc set on HD DVD months ago.

Still, I guess this is a pretty decent price for a Blu-ray disc set.

(and the transfer is superb btw, a great demo of high def, whatever the format)

Whatever way you look at it it makes the UK 2 disc release out for the pi$$-poor value it so obviously is.

Hot
A must buy at this price.

1st post!!

Wow - Great deal, snapped myself up one

To the guys who already have this 5 disc edition from the USA, does it come in the silver briefcase that the Blu Ray version was meant to have? I got the dvd tin boxset when it came out last year (huge fan of the movie) and it had the stills, hologram thing etc.

Cheers!

This is for the regular 5 Disc edition.

The one you're talking about is $66
amazon.com/Run…1-1

Ta, still a beauty of a deal for £14 quid!

Looking at that link for the $66 version, I actually got the majority of the stuff (Stills etc) you get in the briefcase with the special dvd tin - so the uber geek in me can rest easy now! :-D

Excellent price...voted hot!

I already have the 5 disc dvd set - which incidentially looks great upscaled - so am really looking forward to seeing the 1080p versions on the bluray set. At this price it's a steal! Many thanks, voted hot.

Purchased! Even though I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet.

Just checked the status of my order on Amazon.

It was posted on 23rd April, but has an expected delivery of June 6 !! :x
Is someone from Amazon hand delivering it on foot from the US!

Its a good job I don't have anything to play it on yet.

Anyone else got this kind of timescale for delivery?

Yep mine is exactly the same

Great find, I was going to buy the BD version in advance, however already having a "cheapo" Tosh HD DVD player I thought I would look up the HD version and lo and behold it was $4 cheaper!!

Got this and 2001 in HD for $36.97 :-D less than £19
