Great reviews, iconic film.
To call this cut of Blade Runner ‘long awaited’ would be a heavy, heavy understatement. It’s taken 25 years since the first release of one of the science-fiction genre’s flagship films to get this far, and understandably, Blade Runner: The Final Cut has proved to be one of the most eagerly awaited DVD releases of all time.
And it’s been well worth the wait. Director Ridley Scott’s decision to head back to the edit suite and cut together one last version of his flat-out classic film has been heavily rewarded, with a genuinely definitive version of an iconic, visually stunning and downright intelligent piece of cinema. Make no mistake: this is by distance the best version of Blade Runner. And it’s never looked better, either.

The core of Blade Runner, of course, remains the same, with Harrison Ford’s Deckard (the Blade Runner of the title) on the trail of four ‘replicants’, cloned humans that are now illegal. And he does so across an amazing cityscape that’s proven to be well ahead of its time, with astounding visuals that defied the supposed limits of special effects back in 1982.

Backed up with a staggering extra features package that varies depending on which version of this Blade Runner release you opt for (two-, four- and five-disc versions are available), the highlight nonetheless remains the stunning film itself. Remastered and restored, it remains a testament to a number of creative people whose thinking was simply a country mile in advance of that of their contemporaries. An unmissable purchase. --Jon Foster

Product Description
Extended version of Ridley Scott's cult classic. Ex-cop Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is hired to track down a group of androids who have escaped from a satellite colony. As two of the AWOL 'replicants' (Rutger Hauer and Daryl Hannah) seek refuge in a geneticist's house, Deckard takes his investigation to the Tyrell Corporation, where he falls in love with Rachael (Sean Young), herself an android, but with a memory chip that convinces her she is human.

UV content is a waste of time to me. Blu-ray is more than big enough to hold the extra content.

Still a good price though

I've no idea about uv content, but I've just seen a grown man (my husband) grovel & bring me a cup of tea & a choccy digestive biscuit to try & convince me he needs this edition to add to his other versions of bladerunner
final?

yeah right

Woah woah woah. I was under the impression that you are simply given a UV license for the film. Your post sounds like you're saying there is extra content with this edition that is only accessible through UV?

Yes it's been about 5 years or so since this came out and it's still the "final" one. Like to be too, not sure if you read about all the bs that went into this. There's no way they are going to go back to it again.
I voted hot, but to be honest it's not that good - it's just the final cut of the film and no extras. The die hard blade runner fans on avforums were distinctly unimpressed by this at any price. Although having said that if it tempts you to try it then so be it - damn good film.
I wonder if ridley Scott is getting slightly bored with this after watching it and talking about it for 30 years

What a pussy, I buy whatever I want in my house.

As long as she doesn't find out
I love this film, I really do. But I have the Blu ray version already and the original dvd release with deckard narrative. Ridley Scott is a great Director but like Lucas there are too many unnecessary versions of the same film.
Watched the final-cut again this weekend from the 5-disc 25th anniversary edition. I'm not sure this adds anything extra?
I got myself the 30 th anniversary boxd edition from play at xmas

Loving the book of the extra art and pictures of them making it - cars a little bit naff though

This film is the dogs danglies
I got this at £9.50 when it was on lightning deal, the only thing i dislike is that it has a layer of paper stuck to the back of it which goes over the top of the case, which would have been better as a insert.
I'll wait for the next cut.
I've got the 2 disc, transfer is brilliant
I've been meaning to watch this for a long time now, for a first timer is this the best version to watch?

Betamax 26 tape super duper version.
I've only seen the version they show on tv, is this a good version of the final cut? When I looked at the reviews it seems like they were all combined and some versions of it were quite bad
This is the Final Version. Ridley re-shot some scenes, edited some scenes, re-done some music and added CGI at the end and a few times through the film. It's the best version, the most complete version.

This steelbook version is really only the film and a few extras. However, if you are a lifelong fan of the film, like myself, you would have seen all the making of's and extras loads of times anyway and bough the VHS, DVD and blu ray already (in many special editions).

I bought this version and sold my 2 disc Special edition and my 5 disc DVD edition as I just want the film.
