Nice deal, I am building a house at the mo so deals like this are excellent, cheers

cheers

Alot of the chrome stuff is alot cheaper on screwfix.

I wonder if the RJ45 faceplates have the keystones built in like the ones you can get on the bay.

Some good deals here but when it comes to DIY I am clueless. Therefore, I was wondering if someone could help me out - I am looking to replace all of the plastic light switches in my house with chromes ones. Can any of the items in this sale be used or are they designed for other purposes? Thanks for the heads-up OP.

The basic answer to your question is yes, but as you've stated that you're clueless when it comes to DIY I'd suggest that you leave well alone things that you know nothing about.

It should be remembered that apart from anything else electricity is a killer that you cannot see, smell or hear.

For information, I tend to buy my equipment from ]bes.co.uk whom I find to be very good and competitive.

It's worth checking out the Tesco deal too :

As someone else has said ne very careful if you are clueless. With plastic plates you might get away with it but I would imagine that chrome plated ones will need to be earthed and if you get that wrong you could end up with us all having to pay for your hospital bills !!
Get a professional to do it.

Worth checking that you will not invalidate your house insurance if you do any diy electrical work!

This sounds good but there are no dimensions given. Are they all set sizes (eg will a double plug socket be the same no matter which supplier you use)? Otherwise there'll be a lot of plastering that need doing. PS I don't see what chrome has to do with the need for earthing - all UK sockets are earthed via the third pin (whereas other countries only have 2 pin sockets) and whether chrome is a conductor should be irrelevant

Although I will be getting a certified electrician in to replace my plastic light switches and sockets for metal ones, I am unsure as to which ones to purchase because I am clueless when it comes to DIY . For example, for your standard light switch should I purchase the following: Polished Chrome 1 Gang 2 Way 6Ax Lightswitch (direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx), or a 10Ax one? I'm assuming that A represents amps.
