Why is it the cheap TV's have 3 HDMI sockets (as does this one) but the expensive ones don't?

And why isn't three still enough...

I think it's just a case of enticing the customer. A few extra HDMI sockets probably cost only a few quid to add to a TV, the established brands are aware the brand appeal of say an LG or Samsung probably outweigh any concerns a customer may have re: the no of HDMI sockets on their low end TVs. The Vestels of this world do not have that luxury, they try to pack everything they can to the low end, accept a significantly smaller individual unit profit margin in exchange for sales volume etc. in the hope that a prospective customer will consider their offering above that of a low-end LG or Samsung.

I'd live with 3, any more is kinda like saying, how many is enough? that cheapo UHD one that was on here recently only had 1 hdmi

I stupidly bought a Samsung from richer sounds a few years ago. When I got home and opened the package, it had only 1 HDMI and 1 scart socket.
Wasn't worth losing 25£ or whatever it is to return an open box item to Richer Sounds. Luckily, it's only connected to a sky box.

The Tesco miss price LG Plasma from last year, a mid range 1080p model only had one HDMI socket - had I paid more than £129 I would have been peeved.

A lot of the time manufactures skimp on sockets to entice buyers to move up a more expensive model as stated above. Your looking at less than a couple of pence for the price of an HDMI connector, most of the time the pads are already on the board and they just haven't bothered to add one.

To me at least, having more than 3 HDMI sockets is a waste. It'll be far easier and tidier to have a cheap receiver with 4 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI output to your TV.
Having a couple of spare HDMI sockets on the TV is a bonus I guess for quickly hooking up a camcorder or laptop.

I thought that all TV from Tesco's came with a 5 year guarantee, but it seem with this you have to pay extra. Am I missing something?

I don't think you are missing anything. It's just that Tesco aren't offering free 5yrs at the moment.

Aaah so many good memories of Black Friday as people went crazy to buy this brand of Tvs.

they have this Technika 40 inch with built in dvd player for the same price

OMG not this deal again. reminds me a year back

I need 4 HDMI inputs and even then that's a pain for me.. 1 Sky, 2 PS4, 3 XBOne, 4, Mac Mini, and then I have to swap out my 360 when I want to play that.

Black Friday deal?

Blaupunkt = once respected brand slapped on tat of variable quality.

Bought this TV last year...not a bad TV but wish I'd gone for a Sony or another more expensive brand...the colours seem washed out and the black levels aren't that great.

beware if this TV has apps they're all for the German market.

So did I. Also bought a Samsung 40" from Tesco over Xmas for £205. This tv really is crap. Sound is awful even with a soundbar and after accessing the "secret setting menu". Picture is OK until you compare it with the Samsung id recommend you don't buy. Try another cheap brand or wait for a deal on an lg Samsung Sony etc. Hot for price though.

These are the TV's sheep were fighting each other for during the christmas "Boxing Day Sales".

I have the 32" version. I'm using it as my main TV and it's OK. Speakers are a bit crap as you might expect, and I have issues getting the colour/contrast right but if I'm honest I haven't sat and tried to tune it fully.

It works, it was significantly better than other offerings in the price range. I'm happy enough with it.

This TV has a very good picture in my experience. I posted the deal when it was £161 with five year warranty.

I'm sure I read somewhere it uses a Samsung panel but don't take my word for it.

For the price and five year warranty it wasn't much to consider.

I've also bought the 32" version which had the handy USB stick recording feature.

it's a decent quality TV for the price too.

The 40" does not have that PVR function but is certainly a better image quality in my experience.

Basically due to 720 vs 1080 I guess.

One of my pals has a 50" Blaupunkt from richer sounds but it suffers from motion blur.

Buy a 5 way HMDI splitter like I did

1 - Xbox 360, 2 - Sky, 3 - Media Player, 4 - Blu-Ray, 5 - PS3

Auto switches to whichever I want to use and if it doesn't I have a remote that changes the input

Do you lose quality or drop frames? I know a lot of splitters do that
