Ok guys, its a Full HD, LED, 3D TV at 42", a good solid brand (Blaupunkt), they used to make some pretty sturdy stuff in the day and are based in Germany. Sainsbury's seem to have a stonking deal here, I believe its collection only....Fill your boots!

I'm afraid not but they have stocked this model for some time, I should imagine its the only Blaupunkt 3D TV of this size.

I didn't know Blaupunkt made tvs.

Found this link to reviews on sainburys site about a blaupunkt 42" 3D Tv although not sure if it's the same one.

reviews.sainsburys.co.uk/267…htm

brother bought the 32 inch one about 9 months back for £179 and to be fair it's not a bad tv. The 3D does what it says on the tin and has 3 different modes dependant upon how the image is transmitted. Sound ain't bad for a bedroom tv but a Bluetooth soundbar (polaroid £40 at asda ) rectifies that- no issues on motion delays but then again I only watch tv to see what's on and don't want to compare p's and i's and 720's and 1080's or true HZ rates against advertised rates - it does a good job for a good price and as it's only an extra £100 for an extra 10 inches ( ooh matron ) then that just sweetens the deal - heat added

Not knocking the deal, but isn't Blaupunkt now just another "virtual" brand used to re-badge the same old Chinese tat these days?

Like Polaroid brands are not actually Polaroid it is in fact ASDAs own brand. Although it does not mean the quality is bad !

I remember years back buying a Blaupunkt CD player for the car and I was seriously impressed with the sound quality and build quality, since that day 18 years ago, I've never heard a bad word spoken against their products. I believe this has a 3 year warranty the last time I enquired in store. I believe Sainsbuys Blaupunkt and Samsung TV's are similarly priced.

They don't.

They have licensed their name to other manufacturers (UMC Slovakia etc.)

I too had a Blaupunkt car CD player some years ago and was really impressed. I seem to remember going to replace it a few years later and the range being really reduced and ending up with something like a JVC. I think they stopped being a serious "independent" producer of quality audio gear sometime in the Noughties, even if their stuff was actually manufactured to their specifications, out east, for some years before. I think perhaps that the quality of Chinese made stuff is so good now that the "brand" is the only thing that matters to us consumers.

I've bought 2 tvs from sainsburys in the past and the description was the accurate one (ie not the picture). I basically have a 32" version of the deal here and no issues at all

The name sounds like a noise made when someone sneezes... have some heat anyway!

Blaupunkt is actually Blue Point, thats why the blue dot on the logo!

I bought the 32" 3D version of this one for the guest room and I can honestly say it is super! I was convinced by the top reviews 4/5 and I watch Ice Age 3 + 4 3D, Avatar etc and it was like the cinema experience! If the 42" is anything like it's 32" counterpart then get it! It cost me £179 - so you're paying an extra £100 for the extra size

That's the non-3D version in the other thread, Sainsbury's do have a 32" 3D version of the TV in this post which from memory I recall was about £199.99 when I was there yesterday (_;)

I was informed in another thread that these are Turkish made TVs.

They are basically chinese tv's assembled in Europe but the one good thing about passive 3D televisions is they have to use a LG panel but even that is still made in China but they are excellent panels. Generally for these sets the 3D and picture quality for high definition is good but SD performance is poor, menu options are limited, sound is poor, power consumption is a little higher than premium brands and motion handling etc is basic with juddering and blurring at times especially on panning shots. Many of these faults also exist on premium brand low end sets though. £280 represents an excellent price for a passive 3D set. Whether now is the time to buy when the sales are only weeks away is another matter. There is a good chance of a better offer on a similar set in the new year. £280 seems to be a regular price for this.

Not knocking good price TV but you do get what you pay for these days. Have some heat for pricing though!

Just bought this and am impressed for the price.

Wow!!!! Just wow!!!!

!!!!

Backlit or edgelit?

For me, the fact that you added four exclamation marks to the title really added to the deal.

Cold because this could have any name on it

Really? Can I have WHUFC on it?

Blaupunkt owned by UMC also make Technika, Swisstek etc. They are certainly not the same company from years ago who specialized in high quality audio products. I need a new 3d tv but will certainly be passing on this as reviews on net are pretty awful.

I have the 32 inch version and I am content with it, don't expect LG performance but a good budget 3D TV. Plays divx from usb port. You can record to usb via an update from the support site at a cost of around £20. Bear in mind that I am talking about the model I have. So check the specs on this model.

£34.99, for a feature that should be on the tv already if it is only a software/firmware upgrade.

I bought this a few months ago,

Only problem ive noticed is a couple channels sound is a bit dodgy when at a certain volume and higher, most noticeable for chanel 4 and E4 ect.

I've got this.
Great picture
Sound quality poor, were thinking of buying a sound bar to see if it helps.
Tinny & vibrates when at a certain volume

Looks like you should visit your GP, that doesn't sound healthy at all.

Yes because the quality is the same.

maddoglewis

if we were same quality as this tv we'd be mid table. However, I am thinking more like my old Black and White portable tv with a coat hanger for an aerial if really want comparisons.
