Think this was on a deal a few months back but it is back on again, found it while looking for a new TV. Blurb reads as follows;

Open up a new world of entertainment, with the Blaupunkt 46" Full HD 1080p LCD TV. With impressive colour and clarity, you'll be able to enjoy movies, documentaries and games as never before. An electronic programme guide makes it easy to see what's on - so you'll never have to miss another episode!

The USB connection means you can record directly on a memory stick or a USB hard disk. It's also ideal for viewing photos, watching movies and listening to music.

Inside the box, you'll find an RF cable, manual, quick start guide, remote control and batteries.

Looks like a vestel - usual licensing a name for capitalising on a brand

Blaupunkt TVs are made in Slovakia by UMC... umc-slovakia.sk/com…kt/

No better than Vestel. UMC & Vestel probably source the components & sub-assemblies from the same Chinese factories.

It's sad that the once proud name of Blaupunkt is reduced to this.

we got it last time..im no tv buff but it was nice...the picture was stunning imo...so clear. We returned it as the speakers vibrated even when on low, if a bassy tone came on..even a voice, which annoyed me.
Judging by the reviews, it can't be as bad as the cello.

60hz? do you actuall know what you're talking about?
indeed.... for most UK and Euro users it'll actually be even lower (shock horror) 50Hz

Which is ideal for all those 50Hz broadcasts we watch from Sky, Freeview, Virgin etc

A classic case of assuming bigger/lower numbers equates to better/worse. FAIL

I know. It's lucky that all UK broadcasts, DVDs and Blu-Rays are 30fps max.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic ?

Fps and Hz are not quite the same thing !!
I've just returned a Blaupunkt TV because the image blurring was horrible and I also had the same problem with speakers vibrating. The remote also took 5 minutes before it would work the tv from being switched on. I wouldn't choose Blaupunkt for a TV again.

Hopefully anybody buying a 46" full hd tv for £350 will know its c**p, its whether they are bothered or not.
You can't get the spare parts for vestel.
That is what I was told when I bought a Wharedale tv from Argos, got a refund.

A major Freeview upgrade stopped the tv getting any channels then the buzzing started and the PC input would not display correctly.

Mercy, I would hope that the availability of spare parts does not make or brake (sic) a purchase of a TV, I would be looking to not need any spare parts until the set is 6-7 years old when even the best projection of spare parts will stop and the set is beyond economical repair and indeed knackered.

60Hz! Wow a whole 10Hz more than the native frequency of the TV system in the UK - I'm sure it will cope.
Good price Defo...moaners can u get me anythng cheaper for same screen size??!

Sorry, just to double check... do you say there is no difference in picture on 50Hz and 200Hz TV?

Vestel parts are available, but they command higher prices than Samsung for example (reliability & scarcity), I recently had a friends Wharfedale in for a repair and the correct PSU was £70 second hand, I modified another PSU to suit instead, cost £22 plus half an hour rewiring it.

There might be but just judging a TV on whether it's 50Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz or 600Hz is not a good idea. A 50Hz quality branded TV will very likely outperform a budget priced 100Hz TV, it's all about how well the TV processes the image and how well the LCD panel displays it. Budget TV's will usually have less sofisticated processing capabilies and so whether it displays the image at 50Hz or 100Hz might not mean it's good.

You really have to view a TV and make your decision rather than see a specification that could be meaningless
I was told that cheap Toshiba's are actually Vestel's now, is this true?
Nope, Vestel is an established Turkish brand. According to Wiki they also own,
Techwood
Vestfrost (a former Danish brand purchased by Vestel)
Waltham (a former UK brand purchased by Vestel)
Luxor (a former Swedish brand previously owned by Nokia) brands. No relation with Toshiba.

Another Turkish company is Arcelik, Beko. They also produce Grundig. Also they own the brands below,
Defy (purchased in July 2011)[18]
Altus
Blomberg
Arctic
Elektra Bregenz
Leisure
Flavel
Arstil

We used to own a Blaupunkt TV. We used it more than 15 years, almost without any break. I'm not sure if the brand still maintains the quality but it was a real piece of gem.

Cheap "Toshiba" TVs are designed / made by Vestel & Unihan. TVs designed / made by Toshiba are Series RL & above.

There's no connection between Blaupunkt of the past & today, other than the name. No longer a prestige brand.

Thanks Dooper, I think it's terrible that Richer Sounds promote Toshiba as "Why buy from a no name brand when you can have a Toshiba" when it's actually a no-name branded item at that price!

I'll never buy Toshiba again...

Panasonic Viera FTW!
I had mine 8 months before it went wrong. Caused by the major Freeview reshuffle a few years back with analogue.
Does anyone else have any feedback on this telly?

Yes, Awesome TV and the picture looks really big in real life compared with a 42 somehow.
