Will a cat set off the motion detector?

Leaves set these off. Shadows set them off. They are truly useless. Had mine for 2 years and the only reason I chose them was the price. I've probably spent 3 times that in batteries as you can only use energizer AA lithium. These eat them like nothing I've seen before. I even purchased rechargeable lithium batteries and app showed they were dead all the time so useless. I've since moved to Eufy rechargeable camera's and boy do I wish I'd started with these. Absolutely night and day different. The quality is outstanding and the extra features are brilliant. And there is no complaints with customer service either. Above and beyond. Blink do not offer the same. When I had issues and said if they can't sort them out then I'd be looking to get a different system. They responded with "that's your choice" 🤦 not a care in the world. Eufy stick with you and do everything they can to sort it before they say thanks for using eufy. So in short.... Save your money and do not buy blink. 🐩

    Correct

For anyone buying a USB flash drive to go with this, I have a 32gb one in my sync module, recording from 3 cameras, and it’s only 9% full after several months. Don’t waste your money on a massive capacity. (edited)

Remind yourself that the Echo Show doesn't offer you essential functionality. You'll get to say "Alexa, show me the front door" and fifteen seconds later you'll be looking at a five second delayed feed of the Amazon driver walking away with ZERO Alexa options for calling out and saying "oi... I'll be down to sign for that in a minute, I'm just finishing a Jack Wright..."

The Alexa integration is unvelievably underwhelming.

It is a camera system, not camera add on. The word 'system' tells me it comes with the module. The USB drive is usually sold separately.

Nice find OP. Sooo tempted, I bought two of these with the sync module for my partners house about 14 months ago. £150? from memory, added a 128GB card so don't need cloud storage. They're bloody great, quite amazed at the quality of both the product and the footage. No issues with footage in low light either that some people report. Worth every penny.

Yeah you've sold me on Eufy. I'm going to wait for the price to drop on …Yeah you've sold me on Eufy. I'm going to wait for the price to drop on Amazon. It's been £40 lower than currently. Even then, fair bit more expensive than Blink, but they don't charge for cloud by the looks of it, has some built in storage in the base unit, and the battery is rechargeable, so that brings the two closer in cost.

Yes the price is a bit of a sting but like my dear dad used to say. Buy cheap buy twice. The storage is free you are correct. The older blink cameras that I had (xt2) were also free cloud but I'm positive that you are going to be very impressed with eufy. When I first got my doorbell I was having slightly slower alerts and got in touch with customer service and they literally went above and beyond getting me sorted. That and that alone was the reason I chose to try eufy cameras. I started e8the indoor 2k pan and tilt to keep an eye on hounds while out as they are getting on in years and then chose to get the 2c pro as an add on as already mentioned I had the base unit with the doorbell and the rest is history. They seriously do some amazing products. And the additional features on app are mega. Blink is very very basic.
Please let us know how you get on. 🙌 So others are able to make decisions as I know lots look back on comments. 🙌

You can only use energizer AA lithium batteries. They are the only batteries that ink recommend and I've even tried rechargeable lithium batteries and do work but show as need replacing on app. So you won't know when they run out. Well you will but when it's too late. Can attest to that. (edited)

I'm blown away with these little things!... maybe because I have the mental capacity to realise the limitations of a camera powered by 2 AA batteries

Already have 24/7 recording from cameras up in the eaves of the house, the fact that these can be hidden easily is a massive pro in my book, yes a lag does exist but it's not as bad as people make out.

The fact I had them setup, synced and mounted in less than 20 minutes is absolutely astounding, it took me longer browsing through the settings menu tweaking both cameras.

To those saying these are rubbish need their heads examined, what you have here are essentially completely wire free 3v cameras that record a very decent day and acceptable night 30 fps up to 60s motion clip a minimum of 10s apart, while syncing with a hub....they honestly do more than I thought they would

    What a bargain.

Bought four of these Blink outdoor cameras now and thus far totally unimpressed. The lag is atrocious, constantly missing things even though set onto highest sensitivity setting. Glad it was me going out in my car this morning and not it being stolen as it recorded nothing. I’ve everything set to how it should be as well. Sorry but this product is still poor even for the bargain price.

There seems to be a lot of negative reviews for this. I bought a two camera system in black Friday '19. I found it incredibly easy to set up. I tweaked the settings so random things didn't set it off. I had to change the batteries in one of them after 1½ years but the other one is still going strong 2½ years later!
Honestly pretty decent cameras. Literally took me 10 minutes playing with the settings to get them right

    Excellent deal,
As a long term user of Blink cameras I would make the following points..

    PROS
    Extremely easy user interface
Easy to set "dead zones" so cameras don't get triggered unnecessarily.
Motion detection level and clip length is completely your choice.
    Completely wireless.

    CONS
Battery life is around 6 months(NEVER TWO YEARS)if you have many people coming and going.
You now have to pay for cloud storage.
Night video is black and white.

I ask myself this.... Is there anything better?
Probably for a far greater cost than this.

If you are on the fence you can always return them so it's a no brainer if you aren't tech savvy and just want piece of mind (edited)

Interesting that you say this. I also 2 blinks an a Eufy doorbell and I have the opposite experience. Eufy has "human detection" but is rubbish. If someone in a hoodie comes up nothing gets recorded. Also that feature drains a lot of battery.
My 2 blinks have been working 24/7 for over 2 years with rechargeable Duracell batteries and are still going!

But my eufy keeps randomly disconnecting from wifi and last week I got something stolen from the front door and no record on the Eufy for 6hours... no alert nothing. Blink has an alert when it gets disconnected from wifi.
So don't make your decisions based on one (or 2) random ppl on the web. (edited)

Which is a bit of a godsend seeing how little the conviction rate is for them. I don't think I'd be putting the blame on the cameras though, especially if they were too high to even get a decent view of their faces.

Side benefit of the Blink... cheap enough to have multiple units and flexible enough in placement to be able to have them in locations and at angles that no one is expecting them to be at especially if they've already seen the main camera and are still trying to get in by looking away from what they think is the only camera.

I don't mind everyone seeing the one I've got mounted above the door looking down. The really neat ones are the concealed one on the opposite side of the entranceway looking straight into their face, and the one behind them, tucked down low in a mini conifer planter, which gets a nice wide shot and at least five seconds of 'guard down' face time as they turn and walk away.

Well... you know... better safe than sorry.

With the Blink there is supposedly lag between event detection and it being recorded (crops first few seconds of footage) and person notified (up to 10 seconds ish). Does Eufy fair better?

Yes lag was a big issue with blink. 10+ second when opening the app to see what triggered the event. And delay in what you see live compared to what is actually going on is around 5 seconds. So you hear door shutting before you see it shutting. Was a pain to say the least. The audio was incredible to be fair. Very clear and would be unfair to leave that out.
Eufy security app is awesome. Loads within 3 seconds and shows what is happening with a sub 1 second delay live. When I compare them both via the 4k fire TV stick the eufy loads super fast and blink would take 10+ seconds. On phone the blink was slightly faster but still loads slower than eufy.
My personal opinion is the Eufy system is far superior and yes it's more expensive but when you factor in the lag, excessive battery use and limited functions in the blink app it was a no brainer for me. So glad I did it and only sorry I don't sooner. Live and learn as they say.

The best way is to buy from Amazon and if you do not have joy then you can send back. Things to know are the placement of the homebase will affect the performance/delay. Ideal distances are 1+meter from home WiFi router. And with setting like all battery camera systems the amount of sensitivity and if all or human detection is on or off will affect the battery life.
Last point which I can't emphasize enough. Give eufy customer service the chance to iron out any issues you have. They will get your system running in the optimum way in no time. And won't stop until you are happy.

About to press the purchase button and then read this. Appreciate the summmary.

From somebody whose car was damaged in hit and run, I would say these blink cameras appears to be useless. The pictures are worse than an inside Y! camera I bought for half the price 4 years are back. For those really interested in security and crime evidence, should go for professional kits for their own assurance. Thieves dont care. The blink ones are just deterrant for the common thief or somebody trying to vandalise during daytime. The alexa features and integration could be great but I am commenting on main purpose.
