What’s the difference between ring and blink?
    jonauk's avatar
Just replaced a ring cam with this. To avoid paying a subscription you need the blink sync module 2. You can then plug a usb drive into it to record clips instead of saving to the cloud.

I bought this last week for someone as a house warming gift and it worked out around the same price with no voucher so they've pushed the price up then given the voucher as an "offer".

Normal Amazon devices on sale round Easter, Valentines, Mothers Day, national chocolate day...

Does the sync module also act as a chime? Or are you restricted to the notification on your phone only?

It needs an internet connection to work. However, you can wire an existing doorbell chime with this and hopefully will work if there is internet issue. The existing doorbell transformer may need to be replaced for the Blink Doorbell to be wired

You need batteries with these, cannot take power from the wire, it only rings the bell. That's not info they tend to advertise but it's true

Costs a fortune on lithium batteries, I’d rather have the battery in the ring option. Still shows live on motion and doorbell activation without the subscription. Can’t look through blink live unless there’s movement or doorbell has been rung.

You can use Live View with Blink Doorbell if you use a Sync module.

Had blink for 10 months now and no issues.
Worth noting that I've been on a free trial for all that time which ends next month.
It has easily paid itself off.
    amour3k's avatar
Are you going to consider the sync module 2 module for your Blink now?

    Or ...

    Thanx.

Is This rubbish compared to Ring?

I have ring and it's garbage, better of with this

Shows for me. Is it any good?

I have one with the “thingy” to store the videos locally. I find it slow and sometimes the video is highly compressed so you can’t see much… might be just my wireless connection but still… not the best in my opinion

There is no such offer on Amazon it’s still in full price £59.99.

    No offer on my account!
  14. rbz5416's avatar
Not that it helps I suppose but I have the offer on all three accounts i have access to, one Prime & two regular. Maybe try this link?

Mine has been running since November & I have no issues with batteries, but then I rarely use motion detection unless I'm going out & expecting a delivery.

Ironically they're next to useless with Amazon deliveries, as the current MO seems to be to drop the package at the door, ring the bell & run away. So you whip the phone out & open the app, only to see an empty view. Play the stored clip (I have sync module) & see the driver turn & walk away the second the bell is rung. No waiting for an answer.

Ahh link didn't work for me. I have tried 3 accounts too :/

    Still active for me.
    rbz5416's avatar
    Me too. Requested unexpired.
  16. rbz5416's avatar
This is still live for those with the voucher. It seems that those who haven't got the voucher don't seem to understand the concept of an account specific deal & keep expriring it.
    steve252's avatar
Maybe the real problem here is that HUKD have failed to make available a protocol for deals/threads such as this that prevent them from being expired without moderator authorisation.
  17. Blitz8448's avatar
Must be account specific because I've not got that offer

Do you see "Apply 40% voucher" check box under the price? Voucher only appears for doorbell or the doorbell with Sync module. Doesn't appear for bundle with Echo Dot or Mini as a Chime.

I have updated the listing to state that this is account specific. Didn't know Amazon vouchers on listings are account specific.

    Not on my account.

    Shame not on mine.

My doorbell packed uptoday so thought I would see if I could get a blink cheap so acutally searched hukd for this.
  21. pedd's avatar
I’m gutted. My doorbell wiring has given up the ghost, which means that I’m looking for a battery doorbell to replace my wired Ring Pro. But these (and Ring) are like Echo devices. They’re owned by Amazon so you NEVER pay full price for them if you can avoid it.

Sadly, no voucher for me. Not a surprise seeing as they’re all I’ve been searching for recently.
  22. SamJHW's avatar
Running costs of using lithium batteries for these is a lot, and there's no way of hard wiring power to a blink doorbell.

The motion detection on mine is a bit hit and miss sometimes too, sometimes it doesn't even pick up my coming home and through the door a foot in front of it. Other times it's triggered by nothing so I get a clip of nothing at all.
    crazygoog's avatar
What about using rechargeable batteries? That would cut the cost a lot, I'm sure.
  23. waspsoton's avatar
    Not for me either
  24. XNET's avatar
All these types of doorbell should have a hardwired option, otherwise avoid, unless you really can't get power to it
    Lee_Bolding's avatar
I’m not drilling holes in my expensive composite door or frame!

The battery in my Ring lasts for around 2-3 months before it needs recharging, it’s not much of a hassle to recharge it 4 or 5 times a year - and means I haven’t put any ugly holes in my door that need to be disguised when I change to a different door bell

Waiting for this to drop to 32 like the recent very deal
    jco83's avatar
It doesn't look like they price-matched it at the time, and that Very price looks to have ended ~10 days ago, so there's no reason they would do it now. Have you checked to see if you're eligible for the new £5 off £15 promo
  26. dabbit's avatar

Anyone got it at this price? Checked on several Amazon price and no 40% off on any of them. (edited)
  29. Neil_Bower's avatar
I had this offer 2 days  ago. Added the doorbell to my basket to buy later as was looking for other items, went back to basket and the 40% had disappeared and now don’t see the offer at all

Could a WiFi jammer prevent recording video to sync module?

How long does the lithium batteries last
    martaluscious's avatar
    In mine lasted a week
  32. Bluediamond28's avatar
seems all the good stuff requires the sync module so holding off for now
