Why? I haven't got any secrets to hide so doesn't bother me. I don't need a Panorama program to tell me a device that I've bought, that constantly listens out for commands, is recording what I say. How would it work otherwise.

Can you recommend me a camera that I can point out the window? Thx

You're going to struggle with that, as infrared won't function at night. Just put them outside, they're wireless and waterproof.

I haven't, ask Alexa
Brought these when they were on offer at Amazon a few weeks back. Fantastic quality and pick up motion quickly. Can create schedules for the cameras to turn on and off and able to set areas in field of vision where you don’t want motion to be detected (i.e across the top of my fence where the neighbours cat walks, so the camera doesn’t go off 20 times a day). Can set duration of record for up to 60 seconds and set re-trigger time.
Good app too, and notification received within 10 seconds of camera recording.
Also works with echo show - I can ask Alexa to show me a camera, and I get a live feed on the screen (can also do the same on the app when away from home).
The quality is clear, especially during the day. And you can change the night vision level for if you have a pir light (so that it isn’t over exposed).
All in all, very good quality for the money

Got these, pretty good so far. I'm not so sure on the advertised 2 year battery life, I reckon I'd be lucky to get 6 months out of it with being activated at least 10-15x a day. Mind you batteries are just standard AA lithium which you can normally get 4 of for less than £5. The big plus for me is the free cloud storage vs Ring who makes you pay a monthly subscription.

Tried setting these up for my father in law, couldn't really get the motion alarm working pointing out of a window, seems the range was pretty poor at detecting movement.
Excellent deal on good cameras.

Does not work like that. Either stick them outside or if internal use then it has to be looking at the inside of the house (i.e. not for plonking on internal window to face outside)
What ecosystems do these work with (Alexa, Google, IFTTT and Smartthings?) and how good is the integration?
Been waiting for these to drop under £130 since Black Friday.
Now ordered, cheers OP 🏻
Great deal, probably the cheapest it has been. Saves waiting for Black Friday anyway. Been keeping an eye out for this. Heat added.

Why not just mount these outdoors as they're weather proof

Mine works so bad, slow, poor quality and batteries lasted 2 moths. Comparing to cheap YI I am hugely disappointed
Cheers OP, just ordered some.

They don't work through glass.
Bought the 5 camera set from Amazon a few weeks ago whilst on offer as an alternative to my existing Arlo cameras.
I mounted the Blink cameras in the same place as the Arlo (after having to also buy additional cases that support screw mounts!!).
Quickly returned for a refund...
Poor range / WiFi signal and the fact that you only receive notifications after any motion detection recording has finished was a deal breaker. Remounted my Arlo cameras instead.
The picture quality is decent and the base station is also a lot smaller and less obtrusive than the Arlo base station, but unfortunately the cons just outweighed the pros.
With a bit of tweaking the XT2 system could be really good but at the minute just not worth the price for me. As always YMMV.

Uses Amazon's own system and saves detection to the cloud and not SD card. The software on my phone works very well, but live talk option can be a bit slow.

Make sure you buy lithium AA batteries. Amazon had them for £5 for 4. These are the best batteries to use, not use standard AA as they do not last.

You can select between 0-60 seconds and an option to end earlier if no motion is detected.

Clip recording time can be set between 5 and 60 seconds, with retrigger time between 10 and 60 seconds. Sensitivity level between 1 and 9.
Night vision intensity - low/med/high.
Quality - saver/best/enhanced.
The speaker volume has a slider scale between low and high. HTH

I have the original version and the live feed has no time limit. It does come up with a warning that continued use may reduce battery life but that’s it.

It's more to do with how Amazon are manouvering into becoming a security firm used by the authorities and the foolish public paying for the privilege.

Just watch it.

The foolish public . I'm buying a security camera, again id be aware that they're in the security market and of course this footage can be used to monitor what I'm watching. If it keeps us all safer, I don't mind.

But I may watch it, just to cover all angles. But genuinely the big brother stuff doesn't bother me, if it's a product I want and it serves a purpose, I'll accept the risks.

It's not that they are watching. The government then cut back their police forces because they can rely on these eyes and ears. You happy with that? 'Cause I ain't!

Maybe just open the window and use a command strip or adhesive backed velcro strip to hold it to the outside sill?
Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a wireless qi charger to the back of it?

I want to use two indoors and was wondering of a neat way to power it off usb without looking bad and keeping the wires hidden.
can't get it to take the FIVE4U code? (it is a new account!?!)

Are you sure? It was a long time ago and I sent it back to Amazon. Vaguely remember that you had to tap in the mobile app to extend the stream every 20 or so seconds? If its unlimited stream with no touch to continue that's good, but I don't think that's the case...but maybe with this version 2?

Also, you couldn't view the stream on an Windows or Mac machine, you had to use the mobile apps, can anyone say if you can now view live streams on Windows 10 and if it's time restricted? As in do you have to touch/click to keep activated.

Yep certain. I’ve just used it now for over a couple minutes. The warning does come up that the battery life will be impacted however the live stream continues to be active.

Unfortunately you are right. Our rights are won hard and easily lost, the propagation and acceptance of the opinion that “I have nothing to hide therefore I strong privacy isn’t required’ is ...sad.
