Pretty standard, it's even a little cheaper at TheHut (£8.93)

This is excellent, my 2 prefer this over Planet Earth usually, I am tempted to buy this again as our disc one disappeared

I can't believe how cheap this is now. It's a fantastic series, and I find it really relaxing watching those fishies.

According to this series' wikipedia page, a 5-disc edition of this boxset was released after the 4-disc. As far as I can tell though, that only seems to be an American release, does anyone else know anything about it?

my friends litle boy likes animals wildlife which would he prefer?

Well I was an editor on both series and as you can imagine, Blue Planet is a series about our oceans, whereas Planet Earth covers everywhere.

You won't be disappointed with either series, but Planet Earth would be the one to buy if you were only buying one series. It's also the only one made in high-definition, so if you have a Blu-Ray player or a PS3 then the choice is even easier.

Thanks OP and MBeeching.
Ordered it from the Hut - just because of the quidco though.

Planet Earth has more variety, it has one disc about under the sea but then you have the rest covering all different things

Planet Earth is actually from 2006, whilst the Blue Planet is 2001.

I still need to buy those two, Life in Cold Blood and the current 'Life' series to complete my collection
The recent South Pacific series was also excellent, though not narrated by the great man himself.
