Description / Plot Summary: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind ...
Steven Spielberg's classic film is back now on this never-before-released Ultimate Edition Blu-ray Disc, which includes all three versions of the sci-fi blockbuster. Richard Dreyfuss stars as cable worker Roy Neary, who along with several other stunned bystanders experiance a close encounter of the first kind - witnessing UFOs soaring across the sky. After this life-changing event, the inexplicable vision of a strange mountain-like formation haunts him. He becomes obsessed with discovering what it represents, much to the dismay of his wife and family. Meanwhile, bizarre occurrences are happening around the world. Government agents have close encounters of the second kind - discovering physical evidence of extraterrestrial visitors in the form of a lost fighter aircraft from World War II and a stranded military ship that disappeared decades earlier only to suddenly reappear in unusual places. Roy continues to chase his vision to a remote area where he and the agents follow the clues that have drawn them to reach a site where they will have a close encounter of the third kind - contact.

Great film, great price.
Enjoy

wrong website too lol

isn't this usually available on 3 for 2 for under £10 anyway?

Voted hot, although it's also in the 2 for £20 offer @ asda if you fancy another film.

Hot:)

Can someone explain what's de difference between this movie on DVD and Blue Ray?
Since it was made in the 70's i guess a blue ray version won't really make a difference since it's impossible to get it to HD quality?
Not sure if i made myself clear.

Not so, I have both the DVD and bu-rays of this movie (it's one of my faves) and the blu is still far superior. It's not the top end of picture quality but this is also a great example of how even the really old movies DO look a lot better in hi def. Remember that even back then these movies were filmed for display on large screens.

By the way, voted hot and would like to welcome our cold voting HD DVD advocates.

Actually, I heard that if the film is recorded originally on large enough film (like star wars in 1973) it can be transferred very well to hd.

Feature films used to be/still are shot on 35mm film which when rescanned and remastered are to a higher quality than HD. They take all the film grain and noise out with computers and generally make it look all nice and shiny again! Cracking film to boot.
