GET A LIFE DUDE!

This has probably been asked a million times, but seeing as the 1080p standard has only been out for a few years, how are films that were filmed donkeys years ago in full HD? Aren't they just upscaled?

Until fairly recently, films were filmed on, um, "film". Film has better resolution than 1080p HD anyway. It's analog rather than digital of course, so it's not a direct comparison, but basically a film made years ago should look great once transferred to HD, providing they do a decent job of the transfer.

Old films that Film studios still have on film can be rescanned to what ever resolution they like i guess?

Yes and yes.

To be honest, there's only a few studios out there who are using 1080p digital camera technology - the rest are still using 35mm film. It's a big bone of contention amongst the movie-makers of this world.

(hee-hee-hee - I said 'big bone') :w00t:

Cheers for the info.....and not wanting to be playing the "why" game, but shouldn't we all be playing film on fancy home cinema systems then?

I know, I know, this could go on all day...I'll shut up.

Strictly speaking, yes.

The three factors are affordability, availability and convenience.

Unless you have the room to house a fully sized 35mm projector as well as the spools for each movie then sure - projecting onto a 15-20ft screen would give you an amazing image.

(drooling at the thought ....)

Misleading title. Sort it out please.

Yeah but if that's the case then they really need to take a long hard look at themselves :-D

I must admit that's the thing that does my head in about this site, you do your best to share a good deal and then the first two pages seem to be about folk moaning about minor points. I just don't bother personally, saves a lot of hassle.

Some of these are worth having on Bluray. Good prices though...

done!!!

hitman, alvin and the chipmunks and batman movie for £6 each is good if they will sell to me.

Has anyone bought the 300 film on Bluray?

I know it was shot differently but to be honest i really thought the Bluray version was VERY grainy, it just didnt look right !!
