This microphone is really amazing - I'm sure you could have some intense ASMR fun with that!

Thanks for posting OP!

I'm really interested in this, i've been keen to get involved in podcasting for a while.....

Would anyone recommend a cheap alternative from Amazon etc (not interested in something direct from China like AliBaba etc) that would do the same job?

I'm actually happy to pay for this at this price, however, if there was something just as good for around £20-30 i'd snap that up obviously!

Experienced suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Whenever I've browsed on Amazon just looking at usb microphones I was always drawn to the Blue Yeti but put off by the price. I've finally given in at this price though, cheers OP.

Hi! I thought the Youtube thing might just be a 'fad' thing for my son, so bought a cheap £20 one...it worked twice...and now it has a dodgy connection where you have to hold it in a certain position for his laptop to even recognize its plugged in. I watched plenty of youtube reviews for good mic's but cheaper.....they all came out that this blue yeti and the blue snowball were the best, so I bit the bullet and got this one due to it being £79.99. Still a lot to pay for a microphone, but I suppose they are popuklar for a reason x

Sounds good enough for me! And a great gift for your son no doubt!!

Ordering now, may as well fling in the arm stand and the filter thing while i'm at it.

Honestly, someone should take my cards off me

I've been impressed with the Samson GoMic since purchasing around 6 months ago. Goes for around £40 on Amazon and the quality is outstanding for the price

I'm no expert but for entry level use the Blue Snowball is a bit cheaper at £50 and has loads of good reviews.

Don't worry he will be able to pay you back when those youtube big bucks come rolling in
Just have to make sure he makes ad friendly content as everyone seems to be complaining about the ad-pocalypse at the moment. I don't know anything about microphones but heard people talk about the blue yeti loads of times so must be good.

I gave this some consideration mate yeah, but decided to go with the Yeti.

Reason being, it seems to have a good resale value if I give it a bash and it doesn't take off, so I wont lose much anyway.

I went for the Samson Meteor. Its cheaper than the yeti, smaller and sounds quite good. There are a few comparison vids on YouTube

You will not get a better mic for the money. Personally as someone who only needs one of these on odd occasions I went for a cheaper Samson that was available to me at the time. If I was even half serious about making youtube vids or podcasting I would purchase this model.
