I haven't heard this playing anything but, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here, I'm fairly confident that the sound quality produced from this can only be described as "pappadinkies".

I hope I'm wrong as I would love a £40 high end soundbar...

Output power is really pants, so I wouldn't expect much from this!

I was thinking more of the soundbase than the soundbar

I have the soundbar from last time Aldi sold it; I assume its the same. I've not heard others so can't compare but have to say that it was money well spent. Ok the sound doesn't electrify but when compared with the rubbish sound quality from LCD tv's then this is super. It has 3 modes of sound - movie (good base) and talk (clearer for speech) and music. Bluetooth is easy to set up when u read the instructions and the optical is so easy.
The bar is quite wide, it's wider than my 38 inch tv - my only criticism (but I suspect many are)

Did anyone manage to buy a soundbase Today? How is the sound quality on it? Dimensions of the unit at all?

Thanks

Soundbase size is 430mm x 330mm x 880mm

Sound is better than my Samsung tv, especially on movie mode, which i think i shall leave it on permanently in this mode. There is a base and treble adjustment on remote, remote is size of credit card.. All leads are supplied so you should have no trouble connecting. There is Bluetooth so a connection can be made by phone.
My wife loves the sound so thats a plus.
I would say good value for £40, if you want to spend £200 plus than of course the sound is going to be better.

Also size is perfect for where i want to put it,

I have just bought this. Do I connect the base to the TV or to my Sky box? I watch everything through Sky. And do I use the optical cable or RCA?
Hope someone can help as I am clueless and the book is useless.

TIA.

You need to use the optical cable and change the setting for it on your Sky box.

I got this as well . Very pleased, sound through it is better than my LG tv. I`ve got virgin media tivo box but I just connected it via optical lead to tv rather than the tivo box.. Also like the fact that you can use "the learning feature" of the remote to program the tivo remote

Thanks rsimsini and blackthorn. I have connected the optical lead to the tv but haven't had much luck with the learning feature of the remote. My remote has learnt volume + but not volume -, and sometimes I am not sure where the sound is coming from!

can someone take some pics of the soundbase please, thanks

oops
sorry

I've bought this too and it's ok, BUT one big issue.

If I've been watching TV at low volume and turn it off...

When I turn it back on a few minutes later it turns back on blaring loud as anything!

Picked one of these up yesterday (using one of my £15 off £75 vouchers to convince the other half).

Very pleased with the sound quality, both from the optical out from the TV and also via Bluetooth from the phone. As mentioned previously you can get better if you spend more, but even the Mrs happy with the sound quality after showing her the difference once speaker turned off. "Was it really that bad before?" seems to be the general concensus after listening through this for a while.

Also liked the changing LEDs for the inputs and the fact that it can be operated from the buttons on the side of the base if you loose the remote, albeit in a limited way. (Source/Bluetooth/Volume and power) X)
