Shame on BMW for not unlocking this for owners.

Charging people for an interface is shameful
How is it that all the other car manufacturers have this for free. I have it in my Citroen berlingo but in my misses 2 series she has to pay for it ?
Total rip off, even for £10 I’d vote cold. Sorry.
Is the a deal on enabling the left/right indicating lights add-on as well?

Probably only a fraction of what Apple charge them for the licensing.

User hostile scam by BMW. But hot deal for BMW owners who want CarPlay in their cars. heat added
This kind of thing puts me off BMW and Mercedes. VW / Audi seem less of a headache.

This is enabled by default on our VW too, so i'm surprised BMW charge a ton for it. Seems like a pretty cheap trick for them to pull.

The only requirement for a CarPlay device is that it's MFi certified. There's no license for CarPlay, it's all powered from the iPhone.

This is nothing but a way for BMW fleecing extra bucks from their customers. You really think most entry model cars would have this now if there was a massive license fee for the manufacturers?
This service is not available for your BMW "BX79927".

Nope. That’s extra. Get back in your Audi
Having to pay for this is extortionate
Total rip off, this has been free on Hyundai & Skoda....not sure about MFi certified, neither car had MFi

Nope - as already explained further down this thread.

My Fiesta has it which is a fraction of the price of.m a BMW.

This is absolute money grabbing by BMW.
Not surprised there’s a charge, Mercedes charged me in my last car. Definitely worth having though, I prefer the Apple apps interface over the Mercedes and BMW entertainment system
You have to pay for it with Volvo too. Though they do at least have to fit extra hardware that has a Mifi licensed USB socket and leaves an second socket free for other devices.
It’s a bit of a con all round. Though mine came with a full Bower & Wilkins 1100W system, I can deal with it
Cant you just install modified firmware to enable it?

Thx op heat added and ordered
You can get this eBay for around half the 'offer' price
Shocking they charge for what pretty much everyone else gives free

That not the only thing. They have a number of different options that you can add to the entertainment system all at a cost of a few hundred pounds each. If you had them all it would add up to over £1000 and then they are only licensed for 2 years before you have to renew them.
I had no idea this was even a thing, what an absolute disgrace when pretty much everyone else gets it for free. This is money grabbing at its finest.
Maybe not one for hot deals..

Merc, BMW ( can’t comment on Audi) both have this subscriber model for features. And this is a good discount of on that feature.

I’m fully aware you don’t need to pay for these under marquees. However these comments don’t really relate to the deal.
Is this just for Apple devices? Can you use carplay with an android?

Mercedes don’t charge. It is integrated into my 69 C Class
Just because it was included in your Citroen or whatever it was - doesn’t mean it was free!!

How about without CarPlay you car may have been £300 cheaper?

Never thought about it like that now did ya 😜

Shocking profiteering. Should be included when you buy the car. Wait a few months, it may be free after customer pressure.
The description mentions "wirelessly". I've used a number of cars with Carplay, and haven't come across a wireless option previously. Has anyone used Carplay wirelessly?

Ah ha, that explains why I have it, didn’t realise it was an option as my car is an AMG line model.

I’m sure Audi were the first to offer unlockable options.
I was looking at a newish 530d X Drive M Sport (was about £36k) the other day at a dealers as I'm getting itchy car feet again.
Did all the biz and was quite tempted.
However, in addition to the purchase price the BMW dealer also wanted £150 for a 'preparation pack' prior to purchase.
They lost the sale there and then.

You’ve got enough other issues if you have a Citroen Berlingo, they don’t want you to have another headache
