Watch out for the icebergs and idont mean lettuce
Hard difficulty level was ridiculous. It set me the task of making worse decisions than the UK government.
Haha, sorry. I'm exempt on this one as I won a voucher in an insta comp and used it for this! My 8 year old loves it
Jay, stop trying to make me spend all money! ;)
I think it's also accessible from the Asmodee print and play section (which has tons of other content as well). They've been pretty decent about releasing pnp stuff through the year.
If you want to save money, the publishers also make this available for free on their website in a printable version. You get the board and the cards, but you have to supply your own tokens (just use some from other games). The printable file is in the downloads section at the bottom of this page: https://www.zmangames.com/en/products/pandemic-hot-zone-north-america/
Good spot, heat
I backed the Kickstarter and have received the product already. Really fun game, works well with 2 people (minus a few cards you can take out). Definitely more fun in larger groups 4+. There are also 2 expansions available (or coming soon) that I got with the Kickstarter which just adds more cards to vary the game up and increase replayability.
Nice one, this has been all over my Instagram so firmly embedded now!
Now in my head again, cheers :D
Never played it. Posted it ages ago but never looked too much into it then saw it cheap again. Bgg says 2-4, best with 3
Is this good with 2 players?
Looks fun :) heat!
You are welcome
Yes. I've ordered a few things, once had an issue with the royal mail delivery but Zatu were really helpful on the phone
I’ve bought loads from them and never had any issues. They have good sales also.
I've used them a couple of times, I've been happy with them. I ordered some stuff at the start of lockdown and it took longer than I expected to arrive but everything did from everywhere at that time. Checkout https://boardgameprices.co.uk/ too
Games always seem cheaper on this site. Are they any good?
Yes. Just shuffle tiles and pick from top, and do this for all players in game to keep it fair. It worked well, and they could see tiles fine. I did have to point out when there was a garden on the tile as they had trouble seeing that. The camera had to be suspended about 4ft above the table to be able to see it all. This will differ by camera though.
genius. I discarded the idea of playing this online via google meet because of the random picking of tiles, but i assume you have shuffled up all the tiles and then you just pick from the top of the pile each time? If so that is a genius idea The wife and I successfully played Puerto Rico via Meet with the game set up at our end and we just moved all their peices for them. cant wait to meet up for some actual games after all this though!
I'm leaving before I end up spending some money.
That's a great idea! A lot of the mini expansions in the Big Box don't affect game play much and are just different ways to affect the scoring but this one really adds to the experience for me.
Interesting. I will keep it on the back burner just now. Still working through the big box expansions just now. I have been playing a lot against family via zoom with this game it works really well. I have a Web cam looking directly down on my table and turn over the pieces for each remote player. I have grid system using some making tape with number on it at the side of the screen so they can give coordinates where they want to play a piece. It has worked perfectly.
Yeah - it’s a permanent 5% off code
That code still valid?
Still cheaper at 'Playboardgames' ;)
Thanks, I'll update
Just to let you know this has gone down again to about £14.50 delivered
Looks like I will have to pick up both and tell the wife I won one of them on a raffle (lol) (lol) cheers
You certainly could, but be aware that 2 really is a sequel in the same sense as in movies or TV - the plot carries on - you would essentially be spoiling yourself on some of the reveals from Season 1. Also Season 1 is widely regarded to be a somewhat better game, and starts of very similar to base Pandemic which really eases the learning process.... honestly if the price difference isn't too drastic I'd say to do 1 first if you can.
That’s very unusual, as they’re generally the best boardgame company online. I’ve bought maybe 50+ games and never had an issue. Sorry to hear they’ve not been good to you!
Can I play season 2 without having played season 1?
Zatu Games sent me the wrong item and when I told them, they told me that they had sent me the right item and ignored me. I involved PayPal and now they have agreed to refund me, but I am still waiting for them to confirm I have returned the item and to receive a refund. I ordered over 5 weeks ago. I bought through their website and their rating is very good, so I was very surprised by the customer service I received. However, when I looked at their eBay account, there were lots of people who had recently had the same happen to them. Just though I'd share this as I wished I had known beforehand.
Definitive answer @TrentBoy - thank you!
Yes Sushi Go Party is a stand alone game - but for those who have played/owned the original Sushi Go this will expand on and replace that. Sushi Go is for 2-5 players whereas Party plays up to 8 players. Party includes player pawns and a scoreboard unlike the original. Sushi Go has a set deck of cards that you use for every game whereas Party you pick and choose which cards to include from a range of options. Gameplay is the same with both so those are the main differences but I would recommend people buy Party over the original Sushi Go.
I would recommend looking at an alternative drafting game Point Salad. For myself and a number of reviewers, it's a more streamlined game with more interesting decisions. It went OOS a few times but it's available in the UK now for just below £18 shipped. https://boardgameprices.co.uk/item/show/29040/point-salad?search=point+salad
Sushi go is £7.99 here + £2.75 delivery waterstones.com/product/sushi-go-card-game/0759751002497
Playing this on boardgamearena - simple but addictively enjoyable game. I'm partial to some sashimi!
Most Skirmish games are , however I can't see any reason why you can't split them into small squads and take it in turns (you can do this with stuff like 40 K , Warmachine etc )
Strictly only two players? Anybody played this?
Good spot OP. Now £20.79 plus postage :) Nabbed this, Codenames (which I plan to run at our weekly online boardgaming night on Hangouts) and Scythe: Wind Gambit expansion, so the postage cost is spread out.
Good game, but does not work as well with just 2 players - I would suggest its better to play with 3 or 4 people.
It's a great site, some have issues with customer service but I never have. They have a shop and cafe too in Norwich which is supposed to be great.
I'd happily back Zatu, I've used them quite a few times & never had a problem, I do fine the prices can go up and down quickly on the website like amazon
I've used them once, ordered a game called sparkle kitty for the kids, all went smoothly so can't complain and it's a great little game. They have some fab games on their site, really quirky fun games.
That didn't last long! Thanks for letting me know
Seems to now be OOS.
Just bought this 2nd hand but unpunched for £16 from eBay, great price. Not played it yet but looks good.
Bargain for what you get, however once you've played Dinosaur Island you'll find this watered down version less enjoyable.
£16.48 delivered. Still a great price though.
Let it go mate, HUKD doesn’t need another utterly pointless “off piste” thread
So you're extended the dead thread preaching that line about "pointless" messages... to an already concluded conversation.. and yet you are resurrecting a thread that died yesterday by sending an irrelevant comment to me which inboxes me. The thead was dead and the conversation over. Funny that in my inbox I have to read your hypocritical comment left today about leaving threads alone (thread that had nothing to do with you and ended yesterday :D ).
Let it go mate, HUKD doesn’t need another utterly pointless “off piste” thread
Why? How do you know the owner isn't managing the chain?
Chain store managers second home? Lol, I hope you mean owner?
Good deal, need to try and play this one though before splashing the cash. Heard some very mixed reviews.
Heat. Would love to play this one and form my own opinion but I'll let someone else foot the bill on this one.
'boarddeckdice-5' takes off £2.80 so £56.18
Good point. Looks like £2.99 postage to add, OP, unless there's a code (I can't find one)..?
"I think it has been 20p cheaper in the past but the battery on my time machine is dead." Get yourself a "Mr Fusion" :) Heat added for price but not on my radar this one.
Seems like its out of stock now so marking it as expired. Although if anyone is interested id use the "Notify me when this product is back in stock" function, I have used it in the past and it came back in stock a few days later.
LOW is more like resource management with a d and d setting, so is more like a better version of traditional board games that do that sort of thing. If you wanted Dungeons and Dragons without the hassle, a good start would be one of the official D and D adventure game series, with my favourite being 'Legend of Drizzt'. You basically flip a tile at a time, revealing the dungeon, and monsters turn up every turn that you need to fight with dice. It has miniatures which are quite nice, it's accessible and fun and is around £40, which is pretty good for the amount of stuff you get. That reminds me, a decent, fun horror style game that's similar is Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Similar sort of thing, but part way through one of the players is given the role of Traitor and works against the other players. Great game if just getting into the mechanics of modern gaming. I have apps for Waterdeep, Pandemic, Star Realms (a card game) and loads more I can't remember. Also, there are millions of board game videos on YouTube. The Dice Tower is a popular channel that has all sorts of content, and there's also the 'How it's played' channel which is usually my first stop after getting a game and is great for explaining things understandably.
Lords of waterdeep sounds like a load of fun, D&D without... Whatever the difficulty and complexity of running a D&D game is lol. Do a lot of them have app derivants? I'll remember to look some up because that's a brilliant idea
Will be giving them a good look! Miniatures seem like they'd be good fun too
Also bear in mind you're at the mouth of a very big rabbit hole. Once into board games you can say goodbye to life as it once was.
Didn't look before but yes there are 2 available cheaper there.
Isn't it cheaper on their eBay store?
Back in stock on website!
Back in stock at the eBay store https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/263992528898
Thanks, expired the deal
Hah you'll have to send me a list so I can save you some money (lol)
You keep posting games I have recently so at least I'm not tempted to buy! Very simple game this one but as Moses said in second round it ups the ante and really makes you think about where to place your pieces.
Really great game. One of those which is a perfectly peaceful theme but results in everyone swearing at each other in the most hilarious fashion as you block each other's moves.
Would highly recommend Taverns of Tiefenthal from the same maker.
Yeah, I could possibly see how that would happen with sweaty hands and lots of play. I'm definitely considering it!! Game was great. Played with the parents and wife and went down well The initial impression was a bit imposing for them but after the first round they all got it and my dad won in the end. Glad I bought it
Nice one, was it good? I think some of the criticism is that they wear unevenly as wellso you can tell which token is which by the feel. Seems most people were capsuling Quacks yesterday judging by FB
Played last night Not a mark on the tokens
